Favourite ever stand-out season for individual player

Peter Barns had a stormer of a season when he first broke into the first team. He was a magician with the ball that year.

Too many to mention over recent years, but Dave Watson didn't too badly when he joined us. He would be the first name on Peps team sheet these days. He was imperious, in a sort of quiet way, got on with the job without fuss or fancy, and was a brilliant footballer. One of our all time greats that deserves much more recognition than he receives.

Ya Ya Toure in the 2013/14 season - immense. 20 goals from midfield in a title winning team. Iirc Gerrard - who was a peripheral force by then - was laughably given POTY.

KDB in 2017/18 - absolutely immense. Big goals and big performances aots.

Erling Haaland 2022/23 - debut season in England and pots 52 - 52! - goals in a team that won the treble.
I would have to say Toure Rodri Aguero Kdb are the standouts. In fact I would add in Stones and Silva.

Sounds mad but I wouldn't put Haaland in that company.

Yep, it's Yaya. As well as the barnstormers, the fact he just decided he was going to start scoring free kicks having never done that (from memory) was incredible.

In a very narrow window he was the most complete footballer we've ever seen - but it was narrow

Someone else briefly mentioned Gundo in the COVID season. He seemed to score every week.

I'd also go for Keith Curle 91/92. Pure class.

And a shout out to young Bobby Brightwell in the 88/89 promotion season. Played as a progressive midfielder pretty much all year and weighed in with some big goals and assists. Definitely his best season in a sky blue shirt.

It lasted four years. From when we played West Ham away in October 2010 and he tore them apart until about half way through the 2014-15 season where his legs started to go, he was the boss of the PL.

John Stones 2022/23 he played in multiple positions, especially centre back and defensive midfield, and was great in all of them. And I am not just saying that as (allegedly) his number one fan but because that is also what the pundits reckoned.
Ive never realised you're such a big Johnny Stones fan Eccles ;-)

I know, I hadn’t realised myself until this question was asked!! ;-)

I really must see a psychiatrist! ;-)
Madam, you are suffering from SDS, Stones Delusional Syndrome. I suggest you visit the swamp and watch Harry Maguire for a bit.

Ohhhh I’ve just had to dash upstairs (if you can dash on a ssslllooowww stair lift) to be physically sick. No thank you very much I’ll stick with the lovely John Boy. ;-)

No one tells you when you order a stair lift thingy that you could probably read a few chapters of War and Peace whilst it slowly wends its way up the stairs. I want a Go Faster boost!! ;-)
