I'm going for Nunes as well.
Rather surprisingly he had some fight in him and looked well up for it. A huge improvement in his full-backing in the last couple of games.

The referee for blowing at full time . And putting me out of my Torture watching in a pub.
Could concentrate on my John Smith's,.... instead of pretending to be really into the game.
On the juke box someone put a load of "soft rock " tracks on .....kind of appropriate while that match was on.
Yawn.

Nunes

Never a Right Back !!!

But you just can’t fault his efforts and desire to play for the team :0)

Wherever he is asked to play :0(

Greatly improved in this position, since I first saw him play in Europe as an RB!!

But please stop it!!!

Why not Kush???

Dias for playing 90 minutes on a yellow. Nunes had a good game. I thought this game was made for Doku when he came on but he had an awful game, just couldn’t make a pass today.
I thought he was crap going forward against Leicester too. I struggling with him to be honest despite seeing some quality. Has he improved at all since we signed him?

Nunes played well likely better than anyone and as you said has improved in his role- what are you on about putting yet another player out of position there especially when we are short of cover in his natural position already.

I can’t see Doku being here in 12 months. We could see something in Sterling when he signed then the goals came. He would frustrate in the link up but for 3 years was a real goal threat from wide. Doku hasn’t improved & isn’t enough of a goal threat. Too one dimensional & that dimension is hit and miss. Savio is younger and it’s his first season. I’ve seen enough individually & assist wise to give him a go again next season. Hopefully he toughens up a bit & goals will follow too. We’ve missed Bobb, I think he’d have been first choice.

If Dias doesn’t play we don’t win that game, his organisation is the key, lots you don’t see. Nunes not fucking up is the reason people think he played well. He did ok.I will never trust a thick footballer though. Pep’s comments post match about him not being a very clever footballer and that he can’t play midfield as he has no composure are frightening. We paid £53m for a midfielder. £53m. And he actually can’t play that position in this team.
Only just watched that - unless something's lost in translation, that's a criminal thing to say in public.
It would be bad enough in the changing room.

Jeez, I really don't like Nunes in the team - anywhere - but he strikes me as a good honest lad. He just isn't good enough, imho.

What does that do for his confidence, I wonder? How unnecessary.

I’m amazed not more made of it and they’ve actually taken the article down off the website that appeared last night. It was an article saying Nunes can thrive at RB then snippets of his post match comments re not clever enough for midfield, lack of composure. In other words, he’s thick. We can all see it. The two penalties he gave away v sporting & Utd when chasing back his mistakes only happen at under 10s level. We’ve been watching such a high level of footballer for years that when one appears not on the level he stands out. Like Philips and Doku for me. He does good things, he’s bound to, he cost £53m. He runs like a gazelle at times, cruises past players, puts a good cross in now & then but he is thick, there’s no getting away from it. Like Doku, zero finesse.

But Pep's comments - what must the other fullbacks think about his opinion of them?
A bit rich, coming from the person who's 'orchestrated' our substitutions this season, isn't it?

We don’t have a right full back. Yes, Lewis plays there but that’s not his position. If Akanji was fit he’d play there.

Sorry I wasn't very clear - I just meant the fact that Pep feels that playing at full back doesn't require the same intelligence as playing in midfield

I wouldn’t read into it too much. The shock of it is he’s basically said this player in particular is not clever, composed enough or good enough on the ball to play in the position we signed him. I’ve watched Nunes & his awareness of what’s around him is frightening for a top pro. He can’t play midfield, he’s tried in cameos & failed, like Philips did. You don’t need that awareness when receiving the ball as a full back as there’s rarely anything behind you & you have a bigger picture. He’s better at full back because he’s out of the way a bit & can run onto the ball and drive with it under less pressure than in the middle. Pep mentioned he’s switched on a bit more but that’s to do with defending / positioning when balls come in the box. He won’t be there next season I’m convinced.

City have a history of playing natural attacking (or defensive) midfield players at full back. Bobby Kennedy under McDowall, Poyser, and Mercer often filled in at full back. Then Glyn Pardoe was converted from a forward into a full back by Mercer and remained there for the rest of his career.

More recently Fabian Delph, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Rico Lewis, and Nico O'Reilly have been used similarly. None of the above have been conventional full backs and would usually revert to central midfield when City had possession.

What a sad indictment on us that Nunes wins the vote, with a nothing but average performance.
That was such a predictable pile of shite. Thank God we somehow got a point.

It should have been Dias. His form over the last month has been outstanding. He's winning everything. I would like Khusanov to play alongside him as a cover for his pace. Put Gvardiol at left back and move O'Reilly forward. Nunes has been playing better. He is worth persisting with at right back.
