Morgan Gibbs-White

Not good enough. When you look at the standard set in the Champions League, seems like another Kalvin Phillips signing.

Agreed.

Where's the level of ambition when we're being linked with players like this?
The takeover started with Toure and Silva. A world class (admittedly under utilised) CL winner and a creative player that half of Europe were after. Next came Gundogan and KDB. A CL finalist and full German international, and the player of the season in Germany with Wolfsburg, who'd just set an all-time Bundesliga record for assists.

And now we're talking about someone who, at the age of 25, has had quite a good season at Forest. Is anyone really thinking 'world class midfielder, Morgan Gibbs-White?'

If we signed Wirtz and Gibbs White I would could see what the club were doing. Grealish replacement and home grown quota.

However if we miss out on Wirtz and think MGW is the man to go after, I seriously question the clubs direction over the next few years.

Strange, you think of Wirtz as a replacement for Grealish who plays as a wide player for us?

And this is where we learn a lesson from the rags

A once dominant dream started heading on the slide and bought poorly, didn't bring in enough quality and they've struggled for over 10 years. They had the financial backing, just spent it awfully.

We're at a pivotal moment where this overhaul will determine which direction we head. The rags over the past decade should be our prime example of what not to do.

Get it wrong over the next year or so and we will be trailing for a while yet.

I think he replaces his homegrown status.

With Grealish very likely leaving this summer, we will have to replace with a home grown talent.

If it's MGW so be it, but if Gibbs White is replacing De Bruyne and another English player is replacing Grealish I will be questioning what's going on.

We won't be throwing 75-80 million at Morgan gibbs white,I personally guarantee that

Exactly

It would be similar to signing Chris Brunt back in 2010 instead of David Silva

The talent pool in general has diminished massively since then; the likes of Tevez, Toure and Silva weren’t required by the likes of Real, Barca etc such was the depth of quality across the elite level of European football.

MGW is a big upgrade on what we have in midfield currently - he has more ability and mobility than Gundogan, Kovacic and Bernardo, and importantly Rodri needed legs around him to neutralise his flaws in his mid-20s; the 30 year old version with a rebuilt knee is going to require even more compensatory energy around him.

Gibbs White and Wharton add that, and would be my priority signings this summer.
