Crystal Palace (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Strange game we were shocking for 25 mins ,went from 3 down to 2 each in 10minutes,and that was the best we've played all season! God only knows how Palace faded so quick? Still think top 5 is a stretch, better teams than us out there, fingers crossed. Up the Blues.
Don't think we were shocking, Mcatee should have put us 1 up.

We were a bit wide open down the left and they took full advantage.

It appeared like the old bad habit of 1 shot 1 goal, 2 / 2 etc for the oppo' had returned but thankfully Kev was having none if it, that shot off the post was fucking hard lines, second attempt too.

We had enough sitters to have won 10-3.

Imagine this thread will be quiet. Well done Pep, City and especially Kev. It was like watching City again.
Which city?.....don't lie....we all seen that team sheet & was worried, 2 nil down...we all thought yeh we're right pep's lost the plot......then KDB laced his boots & sorted it out....lucky to have had him fer 10yrs best midfielder i've seen in a city shirt without a statue outside the ground.....although it won't be long after he goes he'll have one.

The commentator on the stream I watched the game on said there was booing but I couldn’t hear it.

I actually let out a loud ffs when palace scored their third but fortunately it was disallowed and we didn’t look back.

:) There were a few FFS from me as well in the first half. Not because I thought we were playing badly. Because of a goal against on their first real break (was it?). Again. A goal against from their first corner (was it?) when one of their players ran directly into Ederson to obstruct him. The pull back on Marmoush just as he was about to shoot. Hitting the post. McAtee landing a lob right into the keeper's hands.

We easily had enough to be ahead at half-time and so it turned out second half once their FFS ran out. Good. :)

The team made it happen with that thing called desire. KDB rolled the years back and drove us forward, Kovacik was superb. And the young players bounced off the seniors, was it vintage City, possibly not, was it very enjoyable, very.

The 1st goal was down to playing somebody at fullback who isn’t the least bit defensively aware, I thought the corner for the 2nd came from a shove on O’Reilly but you could say he wasn’t strong enough, the 3rd that wasn’t saved our bacon, after that KDB took control of the game and the rest is history.
It all started due to no one being in the left midfield. The palace winger dropped deep meaning O'Reilly had to come out of the line to pick him up, that then left a gap behind for another player to run into and cross. Lewis was unaware of Eze

Good performance. We were even playing well when we went 0-3 down, thankfully that third didn’t count though.

Don’t think anyone even so much as had a mediocre game, everyone played well. We really could have walked away from that with a 7-2 win if things had just clicked for us.

Great to see three Academy lads in the team and a fourth come on. And all of them play well.

Funny how we started the game with no wingers and ended it with four.

We’ve had random top class performances around once a month since Christmas: Chelsea Newcastle Bournemouth and yesterday… we just need to put that quality into some sort of run now.

Kept a close eye on Wharton and was massively disappointed. I suppose everyone has a bad game every now and again, and young players are inconsistent. But had looked forward to watching him.

Morning pal. Wharton was absoluteley brilliant for them in the 1st 20 as I thought all Palace players were. Trust me he is going to be world class

Just watching the extended highlights.

For the two goals CP had on the transition (inc. the OS), Lewis is caught ball watching and doesn't have the recovery pace which leads directly to those 1+1 goals.

Those would not have happened if AK45 was on the pitch.
CP had an awful 70 mins tbh. Had this happened against a better organised team, those chances for CP could have proved costly.

I don't understand why Pep is leaving out our only rapid defender.
I get tactics etc, but it's a huge risk imho.

An entertaining game all round. We weren't playing badly in that first 20 mins but were half asleep. What a great turnaround in the end though, with plenty of neat, tidy passing that Palace couldn't handle.

Match thread wankers???

There's a bigger one sat behind me!

He's only been there this season, somehow he's got 2 season tickets, brings someone different every game.
Always has a few beers beforehand, and let's us all know!.
Every game he ' very loudly ' let's everyone know where Pep's gone wrong with today's selections.
Yesterday he really pissed me off, and a good few around us.
Sits down just on Kick Off and spouts off about how Pep needs to make 4 subs now because he's got it wrong.
'Get Nico, McAtee, Kovatic and Kev off'....

Bring on Doku,( he was slagging him off all game just before he scored recently),
Savinho too.

Heard him say to his mate at 2-0 down.
"We might as well cash in our bet now, we'll get £55..."

The fucker bet against City!!!

Then when Nico went down in their D he says, "Good, I hope he's broke his fucking leg"

That's just scandalous to say that about any player but one of our own!
Calling him a waste of money.

He also states he " hates"James McAtee...

HATES HIM!!

I said to my Mrs really wanted JM to score and he so did.

Our mate behind me grudgingly says, " he took that well"....

I really wanted Kovatic to hit a thunder bastard, and he did...he never mentioned that one.

I end up just laughing at him but he's really getting on my nerves.
Don't suggest I have a go at him, I'm getting on and have had a heart bypass. I just hate the negativity he radiates every game.
Luckily he fucks off early and everyone around takes the piss.

Food for thought actually. We did seem more mobile, fluid and efficient in attack rather than trying to find/feed Haaland when he's man marked/not supported all the time. Also after last week's derby I did give KdB man of the match (1 of only 3 votes - about 1%). This was not obviously universally popular (on sentiment as it was his last derby). But of all our midfield players he was the only one to try and pick a pass and initiate an attack. Didn't work then (crap derby) but it did a treat against Palace.

It was said prior to this match that City were defending better but struggling to create chances. In this game, I think defended well generally although Ederson made a mistake at the corner. That looked like a corner he should have collected. I thought that Dias dominated Mateta and won almost all their duels. At half-time, Palace took off Mateta and I think that was because Dias was dominating Mateta.

Shearer claimed on MOTD that it was a game of 2 halves and that City were much better in the 2nd but imo Palace don't take Mateta off unless City are dominant. We were unlucky not to be leading at half-time, and I was hoping for more of the same.

Loved it yesterday. In my first 35 years of watching City (before the Sheikh), we saw that sort of performance about every five years. Now most of the ground take it so much for granted they miss the last 5 or 10 minutes.

Danny and Roel love that. They are straight onto Soriano telling him match tickets are too cheap, whilst Trade Union Blues are claiming another 9 minute walk out.

If I can refresh some posters memory. I and several other posters over the years have said we would forego the odd trophy if it meant more local lads in the starting line up. That’s what we’ve got, partly due to injuries but more so down to a brilliant academy. Thank you Sheikh Mansour.

Anyway, the mighty Harrogate Blues are running a coach to Wembley for the semi final and there’s several seats to fill, if you live over the wrong side of the Pennines.
