Don't want him for next season, needs to leave as a Legend. Id like us to get him to stay for the CWC though.
You can't complain about the dads army midfield and then complain that the club are letting De Bruyne leave.
He's the only one with an expiring contract. To refresh, unfortunately he's the easiest to get rid of and therefore the decision is done. The others require another club to pay money for them and there aren't any guarantees another club will.
"Say goodbye to Kovacic"-----------Rodri
De Bruyne---Wirtz
Things can change quickly. I'm sure De Bruyne would take less per week.
Offer Gundo a coaching role, say goodbye to Kovacic.
Club have been doing what's easiest in the transfer market for 2 years now and it's not worked.
"Say goodbye to Kovacic"
He has a contract, you can't just say goodbyes to a player on a contract. There has to be a willing buyer.
It’s a tough one. You make a very valid point, but for all we know Wirtz might want to stay at Leverkusen until after the World Cup next Summer and even if he did leave Leverkusen this Summer it could be to Bayern.Right time for him to leave. Huge wages off the books. He’s still a brilliant player but we’ve only seen that ability a handful of times in 18 months or so. You can’t be going after Wirtz and thinking about signing De Bruyne on for another year on £300k pw. It doesn’t make financial sense.
If we're staring at this next season:
-------------Rice
Odegaard--De Bruyne
We'd be gutted and only have ourselves to blame.
I'd like to think Kev wouldn't do it but if someone is offering him top level Premier League football a year before the World Cup, he'd be daft to say no.
That’s exactly the type of thinking I don’t like. We have to have our own plan. We can’t make decisions based on often inaccurate possibilities. We don’t know what Kev’s position is either. United operate like that. No plan of their own. React to market rumours. If we're staring at this next season:

Then he further cements his status and leaves on a high. He plays 6 blinders and we finish 6th and lose FA cup final, will thenI think you’re likely right but: We’ve possibly got 8 games left, so what happens if he ‘turns up’ in 6 of them and is instrumental in winning the cup and finishing 3rd?
Rodri injury prone? Not sure he fits that description, may become so depending on his ACL recoveryPutting the 'is it the right time for him to leave or not ' to one side.
Kev dragged us back into that game yesterday, as he has done many times previously. Gundo and Bernardo have done too in the past. Not just by their skills but by absolutely determination and grit.
I look through the players we have outside of these guys (with the exception of Rodri and Stones - who are also injury prone) and I just don't see that same gritty DNA and leadership.
I see a lot of excellent quality players who can definitely win us lots of games collectively, but I'd like to see us bring in some true leaders at the end of the season, if not we could end up with a team with excellent quality but little belly when needed e.g. 'that' QPR game
He said he wanted to stay another season on a reduced salary but the club didn't offer it to him. I think it makes sense to give De Bruyne another year and use him sparingly. Hopefully the club have a rethink and change their mind on letting him leave because we saw yesterday when he's on his game he's still an influential game changer. On yesterday’s performance and phases/glimmers in other games I’d be tempted to give Kev one more season.
Play him sparingly though. 60 mins here, 30 mins there, couple of games rest.
Get a couple in (eg Wirtz and Gibbs-White/Guimares) and get Rodders back. Give NOR certain games in midfield. Use Kev as and when.
If fit, he’d be the impact sub we all wanted Gundo to be.
He’d have to accept a good drop in wage too to satisfy our financials.
i dont think he takes that deal, what you have to remember he is one of the biggest earners at the club, can we really carry his level of wages for 10 games a season and would he be insulted if we offered him such a deal
I really couldn't imagine him wanting to sign for any other prem side out of respect for usExactly
And for those saying another big Premier League team would sign him, well yeah, I'm sure any team would like De Bruyne in their squad, in theory.
The reality of offering big wages to a player of his age who is in decline and had major injuries in recent times is completely different. You know he isn't gonna play 30 league games a season and you might get half a dozen good games out of him at this stage. That's why I don't think big Premier League teams would be scrambling for his signature.
