Knocked it about nicely until we turned up . Like others though I really want to see o‘Reilly have a go in midfield
The thing we don't know if how good he'd be in the team which is having 68% possession instead of the one having 32%.
Think some of the "nowhere near our level" posts are way over the top though.
Any player who is playing regularly in a midtable PL team at 21 years old, is not way off our level. If they joined as a squad player and worked with Pep, how good could they be at 24?
Obviously I'm not suggesting all would definitely be a success, but he's a possible.
Maybe those that think not can say why? What about his game isn't up to it?
That’s true, but O’Reilly is also significantly taller and more muscular. Always point out that the original post on this thread reported Wharton as a long-term prospect, which was only last summer, and nothing much has changed. There was a passage of play where there was a lot of players to gather he got the ball passed it in an instant! You look for quick feet in midfield he has it and O'Reily is for me a bit to slow to get the ball out of his feet for a 6
Is that mainly based on one game today? He’s played well against plenty of top sidesGlad we can put this one to bed. O'Reilly would be better than him in that position.
I've seen him have some good matches but generally not against top opposition.

I've watched him enough and yet to see him do anything to suggest he's better than what we have.Is that mainly based on one game today? He’s played well against plenty of top sides

Agreed but to get him it will need a huge offer and with the number of players and quality of players we need can we afford to pay 60m for a player that needs a lot of time and work to become a regular? He created the opening goal by dribbling past two and spreading it wide.
He’s very young, so not sure we expect him to be a seasoned professional just yet.

I don’t see why, the current homegrown list isWe’ve done it before…!
Homegrown players are going to be important this summer.
