Pep and Kevin said he felt pain free on Saturday for the first time in a long time and boy did it show. He might not be the Kevin of a few years ago but he was still the best player on the field. If and it's a big if, he could stay like that then a one year extension with the option of two should definitely be offered, on reduced wages of course. We'd be crazy to lose that experience, leadership and skill from the squad.
No chance of that, read his message on page 1 of the thread.

I think he'll go to the US (judging from his interview on Saturday, I think he already knows), and be the best player in the league, don't blame him, and good luck.

Kev wants World Cup football next summer and knows he is still capable in a good league in Europe.

Listening to his quotes the other day, he would be happy to stay in the Premier League by the sounds of it.

I don't think he will go to the MLS, I can see a Serie A team interesting him.

No chance we go back on refusing him a contract. I think we have moved on and looking at the future.

I think the leadership issue has been the biggest issue this season and will be the biggest challenge next season. Walker has gone, if KdB, Dias, Stones and Ederson go there is a huge hole to fill in the team and the squad in terms of leadership. Rodri will be back, but where will the other leades come from?

We will need leaders in the squad when Pep goes as well to maintain direction and momentum.

It depends if we have nailed on top quality ready to come in and replace him or not. As we saw on Saturday a pain free fit but ageing Kev is still better than almost every other midfield player in the premier league.

Serie A is possible, Germany too (with his buddy Kompany?), maybe too physical that German League. EPL...hmm which team?
Damn, gonna miss him! Who is going to "pass the ball into the net" for us? ;-)

Kev isn't physically able for full time, 1st team, Elite football anymore.

He isn't. He knows it, we know it.

I hope he retires at the end of this season and not be a show pony in one of the other celebrity leagues.
Hmm... I kinda agree, though hard to swallow.
Many reasons why to stop right now, legacy stuff and all...
He is not the dude to go US or Saudi's.
I think he does like 1 more worldcup with his country, and close after that. That's why I think he wanted to stay 1 more season. Point of no return now, so I think he will go for 1 more year in Europe.

If he wants World Cup football he best pissing off out of the PL because his body cannot take that anymore

Which team is going to pay him huge wages to do cameo roles so he can go the World Cup

I think we were all shocked by the fantastically high level of performance he produced out of the blue last Saturday.

If that happens again with any consistency, we should offer him an extension because he is irreplaceable. Pay as you go contract/whatever. Anyone of his age would want to play at the highest level and he has just excelled for us - almost back to his best.

He's more worthy of a gamble than keeping the likes of Nunes, and a few others.

Akanji cost us nothing , I would sell Dias and accept 45 -50 million , he has lost whatever speed he has ,and also is average on the ball and never scores .

I would sell Stones ,Ake and Dias
You’d sell our only decent and regularly fit centre half?

What gets me is it's looking more than likely gundo is going to trigger a years extension but we loose kev... ABSOLUTELY BOSTICK LEVELS OF SNIFFING THAT BY THE CLUB

Bernardo has been run into the ground. Give him a break and he’ll be back to his best.
His stamina is not an issue but he's certainly not a quick player. I think we have an issue with a lot of pedestrian players in our midfield when we don't have the ball. And when we have that weakness in the team it makes our midfield look bad.

In Nov and Dec when I think Kovacic was out and we were really struggling, I think Pep should have looked at O'Reilly. He had very little experience then. Who knows how it would have worked out. Perhaps it was too high risk in terms of the player's development.

This might sound be harsh, but if City are determined to rebuild they have to get Kev's wages off the books. The goes for some other players who are at the end of their careers at City and are on a big wages.

Exactly that... was Messi in his prime when he won the World Cup? My guess is that Kev wants to do what he does at that stage. WC-football has nothing to do with world class football, it is a 6-game shoot-out.
Thing is, having Kev on the pitch, makes a difference, as you all know why.
Edit: we are taking him to WC no matter what happens

I think he is highly overrated. Khushanov looks better than him, and Ake, when fit, looks better as a defender than him .
He will fast lose value, We should look to sell him while he still has suitors.
The same thing happened with Bernardo, We did not sell at the correct time, and now no big club will want him

And replace them with who ? Top quality CB's don't grow on trees you know.

The Bernardo comparison while sound financially speaking ignores his huge contribution to our success. If we’d cashed in on him when the constant Manchester drizzle first began to have Bernie dreaming of palm trees, we’d have missed out on the peak years of one of Europe’s most effective midfielders

Right. It makes no sense to pay £350,000 per week for a part time player, however brilliant.

After his performance on Saturday my heart is over ruling my head. Before then I'd accepted it was best he leave at the end of the season but I think as long as we manage his game time he still has plenty to offer and can still be a game changer. De Bruyne has said himself he will happily sign a year extension on reduced salary. His experience and winning mentality is better off here than another club next season I think.
