I keep on reading people are going to give their season tickets up or are thinking about giving their season tickets up.

Please don't do that!

The directors will only turn those season tickets into expensive match day tickets.

Once you give your season ticket up you will never get it back again.

We all need to keep our season tickets for as long as we can.

I think most people are aware of that, what you need to be asking is why are people giving up their season tickets.

People have given their reasons. We all know why people are thinking of giving up their season tickets. But if possible, people should try and convince themselves not go give up their season tickets. They should look at the alternatives that are available instead of giving their season tickets up.

Well could you enlighten me cos the only one that springs to my mind is it's unaffordable.

If I gave mine up I just wouldn't go anymore. As a FOC I'd be stupid to give it up anyway. Also I think the club is probably happy if I list it for resale for games I can't attend. They send me my £20 if it's sold and make £50 or more on reselling it.

Next season is my 50 years of having a season ticket. At half time I spoke with my 2 mates about next season and a little bit to my surprise they both without hesitation said they were carrying on. I had sensed they were getting ready to jump ship, not because we’re no longer the best, but because of the changing matchday experience.
We came to the conclusion that going to city is “us”, it’s what we do

There's no need to be sarcastic is there.

Pay monthly interest free.
Use the 3 Family and Friends option. The names can be changed.
By an extra citizens card so the person can go on family and friends. Ask them to pay the cost of the citizens card. Guarantee them some games.
If push comes to shove and you can't make the game or your family or friends can't make the game, use the ticket exchange.
Use Blue Moon and other City fan sites to sell your seat.
There are plenty of ways to sell your seat without giving up your season ticket.
You won't get all your season ticket money back, but if you make the effort you will get some of your season ticket money back for the games you can't attend.

Has that enlightened you enough?

Because a few professional moaners are complaining about the City not winning five League titles in a row and because the ticket prices have not been halved?

Given the age profile of a lot of City season ticket holders I suspect that seniority and mobility may be more of an issue?

What's a professional moaner? (yawn)

Are you morning about professional moaners?

This thread is about not giving up your season ticket, not moaning.

The vast majority of season ticket holders will continue going to matches as long as they can.

From what we all been reading seniority and mobility isn't the overriding issue as to why people are giving up their season tickets or thinking of giving up their season tickets.

Major league sports tickets are a mess in the US and almost always prohibitively expensive for most people. However, one thing I think is great…the team for which we have season tickets allows you to sell back your ticket on a team approved exchange. You can get more or less than face value depending on the level of interest/popularity. So even if you can go to 5 out of 50 games a year, most people still keep their season tickets. And because it’s so easy to sell them back, the seats are usually full. I don’t think it could work as is in the UK, but maybe in some way?

They do that here.

Question.

Do any of you keep your old season tickets?

If so, why?

And what's the oldest season ticket you have?

I've a grandson (not old enough yet) to think of, so won't be giving mine up, as he'll get the benefit soon enough.

I currently live 170 miles away, and have missed more games this year than before, but I intend to be only a handful of miles away by next season (retirement), so hopefully easier access, and no work interfering.

There's a bit too much moaning about the price of season tickets in my opinion, but without a season ticket, I'd maybe only do a a handful of games each season, such is the disparity between the two.

Despite what some think (depends where you sit I guess), my season ticket is fantastic value, and in two seasons time (assuming City don't get rid of the FOC discount) it will get even better value.

I've been watching City for over 50 years, and this years "dreadful" season, would have ranked as one of the best in most of those years up until 2011.

First season ticket 1964 the season of two gates of 8000, the only two things that make me think of jacking it in are the price of overnight stop overs and bustitution on the railway.
Used the ticket exchange quiet a few times this season its well worth it.

Well obviously we can't now, but no. Although going through some old stuff I did find one from Maine Road I had no idea was there which I'm obviously going to keep now.

New season tickets not being available is the problem, that's the battle, along with the disgusting match day prices of late.

I hope a price freeze and a pat on the head, doesn't deter the supporters groups from organising more protests.

I had mine up until about 3 years ago. I have always worked on the just in time principle, work - finished the paperwork at the last possible moment (my cunning idea was, if I had an empty desk, some arsehole would, fill it).
At home put off the DIY until the wife was about to pay someone to do, what I was planning to do....
It all worked out fine until the fateful day, I was in Manchester Royal unexpectedly and it coincided with the last day, I could pay for my renewal.
I was too fucked to think about football never mind pay for it. I had the FOC discount in sight but fell at the last hurdle...

One of only a couple of regrets in my life, so if you can hang onto your ticket, my advice is say yes!
