They do for contracts but clubs hire agents to be the middle man when buying or selling players to get as good a deal as possible

Bit of a different scenario but I was in a band that signed to a major label and when going through the contract, we had to get a proper music lawyer with experience in majors, but they cost £500 an hour and obviously we were skint at that point, so basically the label fronted the money...only they didn't, they just whip it out of bands advance. So we did pay, just not directly.

I wonder if it's a similar scenario. Probably not, probably just agents rinsing the clubs
