Why mess with what worked already. Id say barring injury, run the same starting 11 back So Ortega for Eddy. But everyone rlse should be the same.__________________Ortega_____________________

If we are not winning by half time, bring Bernardo & Grealish
If still not winning, then bring Foden to replace Gundogan

We might have stumbled our way into something here... Lets not overthink our way out of it
The team with Kovacic and McAtee last week created more than we have in a long time, including when either/both of Doku and Savinho have started.I think the team will create more chances with Doku & Savio than Kovacic & Mcatee
They may or may not but they certainly will not score more.I think the team will create more chances with Doku & Savio than Kovacic & Mcatee
And certainly concede a lot more. They may or may not but they certainly will not score more.
It makes an ass (of) u (and ) me lolNever.assume.anything.

Maybe but they won't put them away that's the difference!I think the team will create more chances with Doku & Savio than Kovacic & Mcatee
Anybody fit for the bench is fit to start, imho.I'm hoping Bobb is ready to start this weekend.
Nunes, Doku and Savinho away at Everton, Jesus!__________________Ortega_____________________

You don't start a player who has been out for 8 months!Anybody fit for the bench is fit to start, imho.
I do not understand why a player who is not considered good for 90 minutes always has to come off the bench?
Start with Bobb, then when he's shot, whip him off. That way you also have an idea of how long he can last, at that point. He'll also be getting the maximum game time and match fitness.
I mean, what did we really learn from the few minutes against Palace, other than (thank goodness) he's still a precocious talent, who's happy to show it?
Ok, so what more will you know about him after sitting on the bench for 80 minutes, than you do at the start of the match? You don't start a player who has been out for 8 months!
Integrating back into the match day squad is the first step, then minutes with a view to more game time being possible. Eventually, when he's up to speed on all levels can he start a game.
I don't think some Posters realise what a tough game this will be.
It is not a match or the time to be taking chances with the 11, and individual players fitness.
Can't afford any passengers on Saturday if we hope to win.
Player B (the returning injured player presumably) is more likely to break down with injury.Ok, so what more will you know about him after sitting on the bench for 80 minutes, than you do at the start of the match?
If player A can play the first 70 and player B the final 20, they'd be able to do the opposite, in the event that Player B starts but is is knackered after 20.
Starting with B you give yourself the chance of seeing just how far he's progressed fitness-wise.
Bringing him on with 15 left, all you learn is whether he's good for 15.
If he's a passenger at the start, he'd have been a passenger at the end, surely? Why is that any less dangerous?
We're just not going to agree :-) - I'm wondering why things are done the way they are, but you're just saying what happens, without the reasons behind it.Player B (the returning injured player presumably) is more likely to break down with injury.
And no manager will start a player expecting to take him off early.
Unplanned substitutions through injury is not what a manager wants to do.
First team football is a world away from training and friendlies.
Getting Bobb up to speed will be with an eye on next season, not this.
I doubt whether they throw them on after 70 with this in mind, either - so what's the difference? Why is somebody going to be more injury-prone at the start of a match than at the end?And no manager will start a player expecting to take him off early.

Bobb Hope?hoping Bobb is ready to start this weekend.
Road to Utopia?Bobb Hope?

I'm at least trying to give my reasons for my thinking.
Basic fitness - including likely resilience to 'breaking down' - can be largely determined in training.
