We could see any of these scenarios.
Both keepers stay.
Ederson goes. Ortega number 1, new number 2.
Ederson goes, get a new number 1 & Ortega stays.
Ederson stay, Ortega goes & new number 2.
Both keepers go.
I can’t see any scenario where Ortega stays, Ederson has had a poor season by his own standards and has been linked with a move away but despite that he’s still ahead of Ortega.
So Ortega knows where he stands- he’s number 2, if he can’t play ahead of Ederson this season he never will.

But he did a great interview when extending his contract explaining his situation as number 2 and how he knows how good his situation at the club is, how he feels challenged because of our demands and he gets his chances.
If it wasn’t a good opportunity like Leverkusen I could see him stay.

My point being it’s really hard to determine what will happen with the keepers. I think we have a general idea of other players but this group could all stay/all go.I guess it's settled then.
Have we ever had to replace 3 keepers in one window before? Doubt it very much.
I wonder will we try to persuade Ederson to stay. Ortega will likely be off as he can’t supplant Ederson and he wants to be number one and get into the German squad.
We offered him another new contract this season by all accounts and he turned it down again.
He hasn't wanted to be here all season after Saudi turned his head.

By all accounts, the only reason Carson is still at City is because him and Ederson have an incredible relationship behind the scenes. I heard from a podcast a few weeks back that jokingly, Ederson would take Carson with him to his next club if he could.
Sounds like a great team mate. He is also close with Ortega. Plenty of videos of him calling him Nettle-Hands or whatever the rough translation of his name is and I’m sure they went away together as well. Unless I’m getting that bit mixed up with Eddie, but I always thought he was really close with Ortega. I hope if he goes we get a similar style of signing. I’d like to see Brits get to play and a chance to develop as opposed to being on our bench, that said he could be our 3rs choice but not always travel with the first team.

I think Ederson will stay, rumours the Saudis want Onana now. However, his injuries are potentially a concern and if Ortega goes we will be in a tricky spot with how to replace him.

Michael Cooper, the Sheff Utd keeper, always looks rock solid to me. If the Blades miss out on promotion they will struggle to keep hold of him. He is a good age (25) and English, so ticks a lot of boxes.
I think if we’ve learnt one thing from Ortega that it’s having a quality 2. He has challenged Eddie the whole time he’s been here, has sometimes been the better keeper and that means when he steps in or plays cup games he’s great. Remember when we had Zack Steffan…
I know it’s not the most sustainable policy bringing in a talented keeper to compete and when they want to move on they do but for the time they are here it’s brilliant.
