Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Rico is a better defender. You’ve got me there. He has cost us more goals than Nunes this season.
The thing is both have posters who think they are shite and no matter how they play good or bad both will get slagged after any game win or lose.
Both have been good recently.

I've watched Nico O'Reilly's goal several times now and I think it's quite remarkable. The position he converts it from you'd expect a top quality striker to get into. Marmoush is a quality player and he's expecting it to be pulled back (nothing wrong with that). But on seeing Bernardo realise Nunez, Nico sees the opportunity developing and makes his move to the near post. Fantastic play by the lad.

On top of all that he was playing left-back! And he's only started a few games!

I wonder how much licence Pep gives him to get forward? But still, to make a near post finish on the opposite side to which you're playing on, I can't even think of another leftback doing something like that.

I posted something similar. It was an extraordinary finish. I’m not criticising Marmoush but he watched whilst Nico anticipated.

These 'we will not loose' teams will help destroy the pl. Who wants to pay to watch teams not wanting to win in sport ?
Well, they've been around for ever,
They'll be around for ever.

Also, plenty on here in every pre-match thread are urging similar to 'keep it tight for 70, then try to sneak it', even before the most winnable of games.

Fine margins.

We seem to be in an era where most wingers pull the ball back to the penalty spot or 18 yard line. Most teams do it now, for whatever reason.

Hence Marmoush needs to retrain his brain if we’re doing the 6 yard pull back more often.

And the media tell us that they have a plan and stick to it and work hard. Saying how well they do it. It every team we play that sets out like that. It does get boring watching these attack v defence games all the time.

So made up again to see Josko in such immense form playing at his rightful position, it’s shameful that it’s taken so long for him to be playing there regularly.

On a negative note, I do think it shows how much we need a top drawer partner for him at the back on the right, as Dias looks dreadful still - no pace, no aerial domainance, and shits himself every time the ball comes near him. He manages some good last ditch blocks but that’s about it.
We are a different team when Dias plays, your watching a different Dias to what I see. But to say Dias looks dreadful ! Strange outlook. The back 4 against Everton were 2 attacking centre midfielders playing as fullbacks and 2 proper centre half's and no goals conceded.
How any City fan can have a blast against Dias is mindboggling !!!!

One of Citys old left backs who we transferred to Forest, Colin Barrett I think his name was. Scored a winner for Forest against Liverpool in the European cup. After the game Cloughie said on tv that he was going to get a bollocking for being in the position he was in when scoring as he was out of position for a full back. Hope my memory is not playing tricks as it was a long time ago, so apologies if I got it wrong. Wonder if Nico got a bollocking off Pep for being where he was when scoring;-)

No your memory is quite correct re Clough & Barrett.....on a side note about Barrett I once got presented with a bottle of Champagne from him after winning a daftest dance comp at a football presentation night at Quaffers

Haha! That sounds like Cloughie

hopefully get some really good signings in the summer and will be back fighting for the title as soon as next season. For now ,lets just win the fa cup and get that top 4 finish.

Now, be honest - did you even know there'd been a daftest dance competition before you won it?

A great, solid & professional performance with 100% hindsight ! After 80 minutes I was thinking slightly differently....

I must have missed something though, because the short highlights on City's website are now confusing me :-)IMG_3054.jpeg
