Time will tell. I’m not saying they couldn’t easily do it individually, or that it’s even impossible for them all to do it. I’m just saying that based on the past form of these teams it would be weird for them to all suddenly hit that kind of form against tough opponents in the last 5 games of the season. Some of these lot haven’t been able to win more than half their games all season and now we are caught in the illusion of thinking they all will when it matters.

Of course it feels like we need more security now but I think when we look back we’ll see “oh that wasn’t as hard as we thought it was going to be because X and Y totally bottled it”.
like I said look at the fixtures, form is mostly fixture based, Villa have piss easy games and can quite easily win them all and end up on 69. the others can continue their current form and get to 69 points as well

That Nunes winner is almost as big as Crouch’s own goal in 2010 for the future of this club. Tough games still to go, not discounting anything, but that was the one tonight.

Shame we’ve not got another game against Chelsea, but it’s good they have a tough run.

Not over yet but now the weight is lifted with that win and the manner we did it will hopefully lift everyone!

That’s exactly my point.

Villa’s “piss easy games” - they got 5 points from the reverse fixtures. They lost to Spurs. They drew to United. They drew to Bournemouth.

Chelsea got 6 points from the reverse fixtures of the 5 games they have left.

But this time round they’re both going to go on some swashbuckling run and win the rest? And one of Newcastle and Forest too? They won’t, they’re just not good enough. That’s why they’re 6th and 7th, not 1st.

We’re massively overestimating our opponents if we think that’s likely. It’s possible… sure. But it’s not likely.

Like I say, time will tell. I’ve been wrong before.

I'm glad you're not the manager

Can't see it, to be honest. But, being the bloody decent chap that I am....

Arsenal's remaining games...
Palace H
Bournemouth H
Liverpool A
Newcastle H
Southampton A

We can get to 73 pts, so Arsenal would have to lose 3 of those 5 for us to pip them for 2nd. Hmm.
That would have been (73 points) two points off top spot in 1997.

Too many people remember title races only and having to win 18 in a row to pip a great team. This thread has over estimated our top five opponents all season.

We've just beaten Palace, Everton and Villa, and on paper, these were our hardest games.

If we need to win all our remaining fixtures then we will, but I don't think it will come to that.

In the interests of accuracy, the Crouch own goal was in 2011. He scored the goal that put Spurs in the CL at our expense in 2010.
But I completely agree with how important the Nunes goal potentially is.

I still don’t think we’ll make it. We can’t afford any more losses or draws as I don’t think any of our rivals will slip up.

This is going all the way to the wire and realistically I’ve already resigned myself to Europa League nights next season

We will win every game. Finish 3rd and be top of the 2nd half of the season table come May.

Also an FA Cup to boast.

You might catch a few with this one

Have you seen the final fixtures for the other teams?
No chance none of them will slip up.
I’m confident we’ll be third after that big three points last night.
Come on you blue boys.

Chelsea harder fixtures because Liverpool and rags are in there are not hard one on the beach one is total shite and don't give a shit about the league games!

We know when we play every 50/50 goes to the other team and things like that var pen gets looked at when if it was any other team ignored and be classed as coming together referee never gave it so can't overturn it! Plus last game of the season away from home we haven't had for long time to have to win it!

Bookies have us 1/20 to make it . Chin up pal

With our GD, if we get 65 the others likely need 66.

If we do that, then it means three of the following all have to happen to knock us out of the CL places:
  • Villa winning 3 from 4 - they might do that at a push but would mean reigniting their best form of the season
  • Chelsea winning 3 from 5 - looks incredibly difficult, and if they do, it may mean beating Newcastle
  • Forest winning 2 from 5 - probably the most doable but not impossible they'll mess that up
  • Newcastle winning 2 and drawing 1 from 5 - they play Arsenal, Chelsea and Brighton. Also very possible they mess that up.
One of those will happen, two might happen. The odds three of them all finding a vein of form and not messing up. Can't see it, personally. These teams are just not consistent enough under pressure. That's why they are occupying 4th-7th.

Plus, I've been saying 65 points for something like a month now, so I'm not gonna change now :)
We should win all of our remaining games.
Its simple.
We are Man city. We do not rely on other teams for our progress.
We attack.
Plus for confidence of next season and for our winning mentality to continue we should win all.
Its simple as that.
