I understand not wanting to give in, but when someone poisons the well you can’t drink it just to spite them.

- Everyone in Spain reacts with sympathy towards him and condemn Real Madrid, except Real who say this conduct is unacceptable and they need new referees for the game or else they won’t play or do any pre-match duties.


The thing is, as much as they have been complete cunts and should get a heavy punishment because RMTV does this every week - they’re not wrong that the referee should probably be replaced. It’s kind of impossible to be impartial in a match where 1 team has incited threats against your family and the other team has not, and at the very least this man cannot be in great shape to referee a final when his life is in crisis. And there is so much attention on it now that every decision he makes will be micro analysed 10x.

Real should get punished for causing this, the league should bring in a new ref team.

Can't agree, even with a punishment alongside changing the referee you're just enabling them to do it again and again until they get their way.

How can you expect a new official to be impartial if he thinks he'll get threats and lose his job in the future?

I've seen that Real are linked with Rodri. No chance that will happen after the disrespect they showed him for the Ballon d'or.

To be fair, that referee has worked hard to get the cup final in his home country. Equally a huge achievement for a referee that may never happen again.

A club complaining to get him thrown off is unacceptable.

I do agree that they've not made the referees job impossible. Personally I think it's them who should be kicked out and Real Sociedad get a reprive.

If Real can affect who refs a game then surely Barca also have that option? Should there be a US style jury pool where they get to remove anyone from the running who doesn't suit them?

The La Liga refs association are talking about strike action by the looks, as they've had enough of being targeted by fans (not just Real). Could it be for the final?

The power that club has in Spanish league is not healthy for there league! Any referee now is under severe pressure maybe var will cut out the most blatant incidents!?
 
Real are a horrible, horrible club.

Total disrespect to the Ballon d'Or and trying their best to ensure they influence it for this year. Makes you wonder how bent it was previously.

Doing this before a cup final is shocking and some people were even wondering if they'd turn up for the final.

I'm sure if the Spanish FA had anything about themselves they'd fine them.
