After a nomadic few seasons, having to play their "home" games at least 50 miles away, Truro It finally moved in to their new home - the Truro City Stadium - for the start of this season.

Amazingly, they have won the National League South, on goal difference with 89 points from thir nearest geographical rivals.

Sound familiar?

Carlisle on a tuesday night
Wow!
I recall an interview with some non league chairman from a fair flung corner, saying he would prefer the long distance games being a night match because they don’t need an overnight stay.
Travel in the day and return during the night.
For a 3pm kick off on a Saturday they have to stay over Friday night

A fair old treck for either Rochdale or Oldham (or probably both) if they don't get up through the play offs. I notice that Brackley won the National League North today too. Not quite sure how they're classed as being in the North as that's a decent journey from up here as well.

Truro was my home town for 24 years, and it’s great to see them doing so well now. Back in the 70’s they had a manager Johnnie Rich, who was also a big Man City fan. This gives me a chance to show off my claim to fame. I saw Truro City play Spurs in a pre-season friendly in 1979, after Spurs had just won promotion back to the old first division. After the game the showers at Truro City broke and my dad invited 3 players back to our house to shower. They included Barry Daines (gk) Peter Taylor, and Mark Falco. They were great company, and I did have a soft spot for Spurs, that is until 1981 and all that.

Let me get this right, your dad invited three Spurs players back to your house “for a shower”?

Don’t think of National League North and South as teams that are in the north or south of the country. Think of it as there are 48 teams at that level of football that need to be split N/S into two divisions. Right now, there just happens to be more teams that are more southern in that 48. It’s never going to be a perfect N/S split. It’s likely that Bedford and one, if not both, of Gloucester and Merthyr will be in the NL North next season.

Can't remember who it's against....but one of their games is over an 800 mile round trip next season.
I'm bored so did a little google mapping.
Truro to: (round trip)
Hartlepool - 866 miles
Carlisle: 870
Gateshead 910

As it stands, their nearest game next season is Yeovil, which is a 272 mile round trip - that distance is 8 miles short of City travelling to Sunderland and back.
2nd nearest ground would be Forest Green Rovers (unless they win the play offs) which is a 390 mile round trip. City travelling to Arsenal is a 396 mile round trip!
3rd nearest is Eastleigh at 400 mile round trip.
If Torquay make it through the play offs, then that would be the nearest with a 212 mile round trip.

Not sure why people are shouting about their trip to Carlisle as Gateshead will be even further if they aren't promoted via the play-offs.

Truro to Torquay via Plymouth is 85 miles, so 170 round trip.
