Seat Counters - 2024/25

Rewarding fans for attending an unattractive fixture at a stadium we've been to 30+ times is NOT "press ganging fans to attend".

I'd never have a go at anybody for not making the trip, but we should reward fans who do go. Plenty of the young lads who made up the numbers yesterday and sang their hearts out won't even get a sniff at a final ticket. I don't think that's fair on them.

It is whatever way you try and paint it.

I think the last few months have been a big wake up call for the club ( I hope) and I'm glad they've had a bloody nose.
They thought they could take the piss out of our loyalty because if we didn't like it they had thousands of newly acquired fans who would happily pay the asking price. Only they won't. Thousands of seats unsold for Villa and Wembley and I'm sure that will be the same against Wolves. Fuck around, find out.

It's on the club and not the fans this one.

The issues are partly cost and kick off times, but lots of season ticket holders would have gone had this been our first trip to Wembley, or even our 15th! But they've been there and done it and I don't have an issue with many saving their money for the final if we made it and agree that semi finals at Wembley are farcical.

But the majority will go to the final and I feel to for some of those there yesterday who won't get an opportunity. But that's on the club because they're not releasing any new season tickets. All season ticket holders will get the chance to go to the final and if they introduced more some of the kids and youngsters there yesterday could get one and get the chance to watch City in the final.

The club are really missing quite an obvious business strategy by targeting day trippers who come and spend a fortune as opposed to younger fans who will be our future and who would have helped fill the empty seats yesterday. Clearly we're still not attractive enough as a club to the day trippers or it would have been sold out with all the memberships we've sold. Those fans will come and go. Manchester is a big city with a big population and there are thousands of kids who would come and watch us and who haven't got the same Wembley fatigue some of our fans have.

What's the population of Manchester now? For anyone born in the early-mid 2000s we've been the most successful club in England. So we should be selling out without a problem. It's all about pricing and availability of the right tickets for the local fanbase.
As a ST Holder myself, I don't think holding the status of "Season Ticket Holder" should give you priority over a matchday member who made the trip yesterday, regardless of whether you made the trip or not.

Other than that I agree with everything else you put

Looking at Dortmunds pricing (in Euros). Top price seat season ticket (17 games) 886.00 but you can get a standing season ticket for 258.00. That seem's reasonable. Now whether you can pay £350,000 wages on those figures is one for the accountants.

I didn't realise rewarding fans for supporting the team was controversial.

I suppose we should scrap loyalty points as well, as that could also be considered press ganging fans to attend.

They are rewarded you melt. They buy a season ticket ( When on sale) or a membership. They join a cup scheme. That allows them first priority to buy tickets for cup games and is taken directly from their account whether something crops up that they can't make the game or not. They can't resell it on the ticket exchange if they can't. They do so on the understanding that if we reach the final the same rules apply. They do. Loyalty points also apply. Those with the most points and on the cup scheme get first choice of tickets. Loyalty rewarded. You want to brush all that loyalty aside if they decide they can't or don't want to go to a semi final for whatever reason. Financial, health, prior engagements, any number of reasons. Didn't go? Fuck you, back of the queue you get for a final ticket. You my friend can fucking do one with your nonsense.

Of course it should. A season ticket costs a hell of a lot more money than a £35 membership. Granted you haven't been able to buy a new season ticket in a long time now, but the effort and expense of season ticket holders is significant and whilst a lot of those there may have attended several games this season, plenty too will have just selected the bigger games.

It's easy to buy a membership and rock up to the big games. I don't feel you should get first dibs on tickets to the final ahead of season ticket holders who gave yesterday a miss for one reason or another.

But as I said, the club needs to issue new season tickets. The North Stand expansion gives them the opportunity to. And if we suddenly have 40k or so season ticket holders it also brings in jeopardy when it comes to final tickets because not all holders will get one and that might force some to attend semi finals just in case.

Suddenly yesterday’s game has become the pinnacle of supporting City for some . Forget the years and years of flogging up and down the country watching dross . Congratulations to all the “super” fans who attended yesterday ( I went ) .
I go to all our home games plus 'competitive' Wembley games (not the Charity Shield) but no other away game bar 'glamour' CL games. Would I go to Stoke on a wet Monday night? No. Yesterday was a disappointing turnout because of the bad publicity but 28,000 was pretty good considering that most of our away 'support load' falls on a relatively small number. We need more casual fans to take up the slack until then, the club needs us!

I'm not suggesting an all out free for all, I'm suggesting something like this:
  • ST Holders on Scheme
  • ST Holders not on Scheme, who attended the Semi Final
  • Matchday Members, who attended the Semi Final
  • ST Holders not on Scheme
  • Matchday Members
Obviously this doesn't include points breakdowns within each category.

So no, at no point have I suggesting we should throw everything else out of the window. I'm just saying it should be an additional criteria to give people more incentive to attend future FA Cup semi finals.

Also, there's no need for the personal attacks either, we're having a debate. I haven't attacked you (or anyone on this forum) once.

Don’t understand people apologising for our number of support yesterday?
28,000 approx was still pretty amazing due to all the reasons mentioned?

If u even just check just the last dozen years of fa cup semi finals there has rarely been anything close to a complete sell out ?

So why just mention it in the media now at every opportunity?

Because it’s City ! That’s why?

The fight of media bias in this country is the biggest one we have ,and continue to face ,

We have smashed them all on the field ,
And they and their paid scribes cannot hack it !

Liverpool
Manchester United
Arsenal
Chelsea
Spurs
Aston Villa

All clubs that overtly hate us, have all come to Wembley and had their heads served to themselves on a platter !

And I cannot wait for palace to be added to that list , not because of the club or their fans themselves , they are quite alright in the scheme of things , but for that twat Simon Jordan -our number one hater in the media !
Just heard him on the radio talking up palaces chances in the final based on the some incredible performances against us in the last 5-6 seasons ?

Had to re check the stats as that’s not how I remember it ?

Last 13 premier league games v palace ?
Palace victories?
1!

Media fake news at its finest
What should be the story is the FA not giving a load of tickets to local schools or residents/NHS/Forces they would have made money from the drink and food! FA = ......... please complete

There are enough layers in place already. Everytime we get to a final all this claptrap gets trotted out. The rules are clearly defined before the season starts. If we allowed every Tom Dick and Harry to keep changing them to suit their agenda it would be chaos. Write to the club, put your suggestions to City matters and it may change you never know.

I didn't attack you but if I think you're talking shite I'll tell you and I'd hardly say calling you a melt is harsh.

I wouldn’t have a huge problem with what you suggest here, as it still rewards cup scheme membership. But, the underlying problem in trying to factor in semi final attendance is the big drop in tickets that we get for the final. It drops from 36,000 for the semi to 25,000 for the final. So there can never be a guarantee of a final ticket by reference to semi final attendance.

Matchday Members continually get shafted more than any other group of fans . It's easy to think of matchday members as tourists, but there's plenty of loyal match going blues, who'd love a season ticket, but have to settle with the matchday membership.

That's pretty much the core of my point. I'm not saying someone who bought a matchday membership today should automatically get the same priorities as a ST Holder. I'm suggesting that a matchday member who has attended FA Cup games, which includes making the trip to Wembley for the semi final, should get priority over an ST holder who hasn't been to any FA Cup games.

Anyway, I accept your arguments, you raise some good points.

So a matchday member that attends one game has more rights to a final ticket over a season ticket holder?

City's ticketing policy takes a severe bashing at times (often deservedly), but some of these suggestions are even worse. By all means they should have priority over other matchday members that didn't attend. Even then a matchday member that goes regularly shouldn't miss out to somebody that's attended Wembley once.

Problem is you get more points for platinum over gold ST

I buy 2 adults and 2 kids ST and I have ST since 1985

My brother buys 1 adult platinum ST and only been ST since 1987 but has more points

Is he more loyal

Understand both sides of the argument but feel as though our club don’t get it

It's about giving people more incentive to attend future Semi Finals, of which there will be many.

My very first point in this thread was that it should be implemented in a way that it doesn't allow someone who attended their first game yesterday to get priority over a ST holder.

Maybe it's not the answer, but unless the club come up with something they're going to have to get used to 27k semi finals.

Not blaming the individuals who didn't go of course, that's their decision.

Fair enough I see your point.

I do disagree with you on this, however I don't think you're a melt :)
