Seat Counters - 2024/25

Using Liverpool to justify your point.
There are 2 clubs in this country with a large enough fan basis to fill Wembley after 30 visits and you picked 1 of them.
I notice you already have agreed that Chelsea wouldn't do and I can name you another 90 that wouldn't aswell.
Yes, accepted - Liverpool a bad example.

The obsession some fans with tourists is a symptom of the shift in City support from a seasoncard base to match day fans. You call them tourists as if you know their affinity towards City. All you see is a foreigner. At least they went to the game and this was the best atmosphere at Wembley since Yaya Toure and the Man Utd semi-final.

City's problem is that we still lag behind Man Utd and Liverpool in having large numbers of London based blues because it is impossible to travel en masse from Manchester to London. There are a handful of trains, and coaches mean you get back to Manchester at 01:30 hours (without extra time).
It wasn't a dig at the new fans (tourists whatever u like) it's just we've done it that many times the novelty has worn off for some. Not me I was there and had a great day out with mates and yes it was about 1.30am when I got back. I will do it all again in 3 weeks.

Liverpool and United aren’t like any other clubs. Liverpool would probably fill Wembley three times a season, even if everyone with a Liverpool postcode was banned from going.

Yep. Well done to those that went on Sunday and an even bigger well done to those that went on Sunday and don't believe they should get priority for final tickets over those that regularly watch the team over the course of the season.

Think Southport in this thread and the social media trolls have rattled some on here and therefore done their job. Rags and Dippers aside I don't think there's many other fanbases where tickets would be flying off the shelves for a 7th semi final in a row at the other end of the country.

Talking of Liverpool I was watching Skysports News and they were doing interviews outside Klanfield yesterday. Out of the 4 people interviewed two were Irish, one was a cockney and only one was Scouse. Probably had to search for the Scouser. I think that's more 'shit' and 'embarrassing' than having some empty seats at a place where a predominantly North Western fanbase have to travel to and after the Etihad play most of their fixtures at.

Nailed it

Our vist for the Semi v the Rags was exactly the same.

The roundabout area rammed with Blues

We did the Green Man, the roundabout, Wembley Way, Bobby Moore statue, watched the pre match "Boxing" and still got in for a pint before ko.

Now I get to the ground as late as possible and go straight in, usually after spending time in London.

Forest's big day out was completely different to ours, it is what it is.
Pub we were in was 90 percent Forest pre-match. Most left about 2 rounds before us. We got to Wembley easily in time for an overpriced warm beer

Yes, I do think he cares - he wants us to be seen as a superclub across the world and Sunday didn't portray that image. Interesting what you say about fan engagement - I personally think the club are pretty good on fan engagement. I don't know what the answer is, but the club are trying to grow the fan base and like you say, they probably anticipated the Community Shield crowd to pick up the slack.
I believe you are probably correct in that he does cares about it; nevertheless, he has given carte blanche to people who do not care, to run the club. We've had empty seats in previous semi-finals, but it hasn't prompted a change in ticketing policy. We'll have to agree to disagree on the fan engagement element I’m afraid.

Whatever reason the club thinks left us with three and a half huge, visibly obvious - almost obscene looking empty blocks, they have to do some blue sky thinking to try and ensure it never happens again. I was in Block 141 so those empty blocks were opposite me on the other side of the pitch. I'm not exactly rolling in money, but I always go to Wembley. I don't know what the solution is (yes, we all know it's expensive), but I doubt that it's let this or that group have first dibs. Khaldoon will be privately seething and asking his ticket distribution team for ideas. To be fair though, I've seen vast swathes of empty seats in the Chelsea end when we've played them in a semi or a final and to a lesser extent, Arsenal - even though Wembley's a short bus ride for those clubs. With the size of our fan base, the coach we have and the quality of football we are privileged to see almost every season, we shouldn't be talking about this.
I disagree, I think one big empty section is better than every section looking quite empty

There are a number of reasons there were so many unsold seats.

The club clearly expected higher levels of interest than they got, but they'll learn from that. If they'd have given season ticket holders the chance to buy more tickets from the outset I think we'd have taken a fair few more as they could have taken family and sat together.

If the club introduced more season tickets to capture our younger fans that would also help. There will be thousands of young blues who haven't got the same Wembley fatigue as other season ticket holders.

With the population of Manchester, and the success of the club in the past 13 years it's baffling we couldn't shift more than 27,000 in my opinion. That's completely on the club.

There’s going to be a big City singing section on level one which will match and hopefully better and batter the Palace Ultras.

What’s encouraging is the directors and the club are now pro for and supporting the City singing section at Wembley .

The directors noted how the singing section made a big difference to the City support against Forest.

The crystal palace fans were brilliant on Saturday, not just the ultras

We took nearly 10,000 more for the Chelsea semi-final last season so I find it baffling in that sense, even though that particular game bucked the trend of us not selling out other recent semis. I wasn't expecting the same number as the Chelsea game this time but I was expecting a few thousand more to go than did. Either way, it is what it is and fuck any armchair **** who calls out the empty seats. And the atmosphere in our end was better than in the Forest end, despite them hugely outnumbering our fans.

The cost of living has grown significantly since last year, every single thing is more expensive. People will say you can get a ticket for £30 and a Megabus there and back but even that is going to be around £50/60 before any food or drink is added. Some people just can't stretch to the additional cost.

The Chelsea match was a Saturday too.

Allocations for games at Wembley have been different, every time we played there.
It ranges from 26000 up to 37000 ish.
Highest was Chelsea at nearly 37000.
You can go back many years on the Club website under ticket news posts.

It's Ireland. They have is virtually 50-50. 15 quid return flights. It's cheaper than getting there for Manchester. I agree about the south too.
