Seeing some post in the Cup final thread (prioritising Springstein over City) made me think.......what games have you missed due to other commitments?

I attended rag wedding in 2011 for our semi (shame on me yes...)

I currently have a relative who's wedding day is planned for the Cup final v Palace.

I used to plan my annual diary well in advance for holidays etc. to avoid any chance of big game clashes, even when we were very very shit!

A City-supporting mate at work range me to say that he'd scored a couple of tickets in one of the corporate boxes (that belonged to a supplier company) at Old Trafford for the derby game a few years ago. I was due to fly up to the north of Scotland with work that day so regretfully had to give it a swerve and he gave the other ticket to someone else.

It was the 6-1 in 2011.....

Still annoyed about that now.

Three home league games have clashed with other things for me since 2011 and one of those got called off for high winds. Annoyingly one of the others was THAT Villa game. My only regret really.

Lockeren , I still remind my son every year in October when someone posts on here how many years ago it was !!!!
As it coincides with his birthday

I missed the derby in 1989 due to a wedding.

We were rubbish. We won 5-1. They’re still together so all good.

How my father-in-law didn’t pin me against a wall I’ll never know! I believe I was a bit of a nuisance ;).

My cousin's wife arranged for their firstborn to be christened on May 13th 2012. Although it was nice to share the day with the rag side of my family.

My uncle got married on the day England won the world cup in 66

Trevor Francis debut at Stoke, 12 ,000 city fans, never missed away games in them days, a mate ,utd fan getting married same day, went to wedding reluctantly, and the t##t splits up with wife 6 months later!!!

Had a ticket for the Leicester game where Kompany scored. Wife was due that night, I was 50/50, she told me to go but I decided not to just in case.
And she went into labour later that night!

Remember missing the 4-1 win over Spurs during the 2014/15 season for a wedding. When Sergio got four.

I don't want to rub it in but that was a great day, The sun was cracking the flags, blues were everywhere, and I came away thinking that we were going to win the lot that season.

Spoiler. We didn't.

Tomorrow night for my daughters 13th birthday!

I did go the critical 1-0 derby win on this day 13 years ago when my missus was 9 months pregnant.

Luckily she didn’t go into labour, but I still get reminded of it from time to time!
We're you brave/stupid/ giddy enough to suggest naming the child, Vincent, when you got home that night?
:-)
My son's 21st was around that time. He had tickets for the game too. Went over (from Ireland) with his City-supporting fiancèe. Booked in for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, thinking, they'll never hold a game of that importance on a Mobday night.
Which of course, they did.
And they both had important exams at Uni on the Tuesday morning. He's still gutted about it.
(My friends who had extremely kindly surrendered the tickets were happy to make use of them).
