Reform 2025 Limited new name same business

Joe, how about this:

Both Farage and Tice were instrumental in telling the electorate that Brexit would make us all better off. Not my opinion, Fact

All respected economic models show that the UK is around £100b per year worse off. Not my opinion, Fact

You hate politicians lying to the electorate. Fact, you already told us so

You are prepared to put that to one side and vote for Farage and Tice. Fact-you told us so.

With that in mind, what's your view on the country being £100bn per year worse off and what do you think the root cause of that deficit is?

It appears you don't know what a fact is :-)

You are not Rafa Benitez so I get no prize

Elaborate
It is now cheaper to generate electricity in the UK, than it is by any other means. We currently generate just over 4% of our total usage from solar farms or roof top. There is the potential to reach over 10% of total generated power from solar sources (That is a conservative estimate).
Your assertion that because it is always cloudy in the UK means we will not be able to harvest solar energy is not correct. Solar energy comes in 3 forms, direct, diffuse and reflected. Solar farms are designed to utilise the most abundant in their location to maximise efficiency. This is only going to increase as new technologies come on line such as perovskite, thin film, semiconductors.
Your comment about them only being good in the Sahara is nonsense. Shading due to sand will severely impact the efficiency. Yes, they will be subject to more irradiance but will also be impacted by more UV, which will heat up, decrease the efficiency and damage the cells.
There is a reason that places that are hot and have lots of sun are looking at concentrated solar power rather than semiconductor based solar panels.

What other benefit ? What about single pensioners who don’t have two incomes or shared bills?
We looked in depth at their situation. It became apparent that my MiL may be entitled to attendance allowance. We put in a claim expecting a rejection but actually she now gets the higher level.

I've read some drivel in my time....

Can I ask what your expertese is with renewable energy, semiconductors and energy generation.? Do you actually understand how solar panels work?
I am happy to discuss this with you offline, so not to bore everyone else. I can back up everything I say. You have offered absolutely nothing to validate your false claims.

Didn’t he say he was a nuclear physicist?

I am all for increased nuclear capacity. Realistically it is the only way we will achieve energy security.
If he is a nuclear physicist, then he is perfectly placed to understand the time, financial and political constraints surrounding the implementation of nuclear power plants (See the new reactor at Hinckley point for evidence of this).
Where we sit today, Solar farms are a valid form of energy generation which can contribute to the mix in the UK. No nuclear physicist would say otherwise as it is factually proven.
Nothing I said was incorrect and he is free to counter it.

What "genuine concerns" will Reform sort out?
Reform have appealed to the people with built-in hatred. The ones that will blame immigration for ANYTHING...simply because they hate people that aren't the same as them.
I test them..."what about the immigrant family that live next door to me? They lived there for two years now, and they seem ok...a good, hard-working family. From Australia."

You can guess the replies.."oh...THEY'RE ok..."
So - let me test this....

You have gone out of you way to discuss your Australian neighbours with people that you know and who have demonstrated to you that they have an built-in hatred and that they all hate people that aren't the same as them.

Hmmmm - sounds like a cool story made up to support a point on an internet forum.

If not - I suggest that you make changes to the people you associate with

Probably the wrong thread to expand on this further but I used to be quite sceptical about renewables, particularly wind and solar, but we now couldn’t manage without them.
The attached link shows real time energy usage. Right now wind and solar are the two biggest contributors.
