Good post.

It was 2000 when UTD binned it off?
I also have memories of UTD losing to York because they couldn't be arsed. Dreadful club.

The FA have to pay for the new stadium so they've enforced the semi's there. It is a cash grab.

The FA murdered the cache' of their own comp. Idiots.
The rags were asked to bin it off by the FA (and play in the CWC) as a way to gain favour with FIFA for England's bid to host a World Cup. - I hate the bastards as much as anyone but it wasn't their own doing for once.
I also thought they lost to York in the League Cup rather than the FA Cup.

The bit about the FA murdering the cache of their own competition is 100% correct as the farce over kick-off time demonstrates.

I was originally going to stay over but the other lad can’t go now so I can’t really stretch tothe cost of the hotel on my own with going to the club World Cup in 6 weeks I need every penny, good job we didn’t get to the CL final this year I’d be skint.

Yes it's tough financially for many these days. I'm surprised people local to Wembley don't make a few bob renting out their spare room for the night. Most fans will be out all day and night, just drop their bag, come back for a kip and be gone in the morning.

Hang on I've just been told typical city never existed ;)

I think we'll sell this out comfortably too. I was at the Cup semi-final and although we were significantly outnumbered we had very good vocal support at Wembley. They weren't tourists. The City end was noisy throughout. It helped a lot scoring the early goal.

Our turnout at Wembley was lower than many expected but those who went enjoyed it a lot and the support was excellent. It's worth noting that although we didn't sell out we do have a very significant match-going support that don't have seasoncards. This is new for City, or has slowly developed over the last decade.
I knew it was you when I saw someone in our end with a united/city half and half scarf on...

Was it the league cup?
Perhaps you are correct.
I do remember it being memorable because the twats had clearly bailed out of it which was unheard of at the time.

It would have been more than that in 1974. When I started going in 1968 it used to be 2/6d to go into the scoreboard and if it was pissing down and you decided you needed a roof over your head you could pay another 6d and use the transfer gate into the Kippax. This was for a junior and pre decimalisation.
Me and my mate sussed out that if we paid into the scoreboard as soon as the gates opened ( Around 1pm ) we could jump over the wall, run along the concourse and jump the next wall into the Kippax so saving 6d. Those were the days lol.
Yeah, when I first started going with my Dad it was 2/6 for kids and 7/6 for adults in the Platt Lane. Occasionally they’d shut the kids entrance which wasn’t a problem if the Old Man was already in, you just told a Policeman and in you went. The time they closed them before he’d got in caused fucking ructions because he had to pay 7/6 each for me and our kid and she only went to listen to the music at half time! Christ on a bike, he moaned about it for weeks.

Ha ha I bet!

FIFA made it mantarory to play in their shitty cup same as now where we have to fuck about this summer.

However the rags were not forced to send their full squad as we are being and decided to send the first team and offered to play the reserves in the FA Cup which the FA said was pointless so allowed their withdrawal.

Both were complicit as the piss can could have sent a mix of senior fringe player and reserves to Brasil and competed in tje cup still, instead he sent tge full squad and treated it as warm weather training, as I recall they never took ot seriously.

either was both the FA and the rags diminished the cups value with this whole fuckwittery

I can't remember one fa cup final that didn't sell out. The league cup finals struggle a bit but we're given more tickets. The one against Villa I could buy an extra one for a mate who lives in London.

I'm not sure it's new we've stopped selling them and have always had a huge floating fan base who pick and choose games for various reasons. The okay off final against Gillingham was a perfect example. Our core support was around 28,000 that season and selling out for the big games. For Gillingham we sold 46,000 and could have sold double that. Every man and his dog wanted to go.
We defo didn’t sell out the semi final v Liverpool 3 years ago. I remember we put a big flag over loads of seats which scousers took the piss out of for a few days.

Many blues at the Forest semi will have been to Wembley more times than some of the Forest fans there had been to their home games at the City Ground in Nottingham.

The final will be out 5th visit in 13 months, the 8th in 25 months. Blues are choosing to swerve the semis cause it’s impossible for some to go to all of them. No doubt many will swerve the charity shield if we get there.

This happened after that Carabou cup final that went to penalties, everyone just piled on no tickets checked it was standing room only, fucking awful journey back and never got to see us lift the trophy either, I’m booked on the 2011 train back and have a seat reserved no fucker better be sat in it or they are getting turfed out, my back is fucked o can’t stand up for 2 1/2 hours, if the match isn’t done by 7 I’m going.
Yep. Funniest thing about that Chelsea game is that I got a text off Virgin trains saying my train was on time and about to leave Euston…while I was still in the stadium!

But you’re right - they bung you on any train to get you out of there. That’s why I booked the cheapest journey going back last week rather than the more expensive last train home.

They lost the first leg and Pilkington had a shocker and man sent off, won the second leg away ended 4-3 on aggregate, they wanted to stay in it.

I didn't say sell out semi finals I said we always sell out fa cup finals.

How can you possibly compare Istanbul to the Forest semi final ?
I’m not comparing the status of the two games, more considering the differing reaction of our fan base, and what it represents. For all its difficulties, Wembley by any measure is cheaper, easier and less time consuming than Istanbul. If we take similar followings to both, that suggests that people were more prepared to go the extra mile for Istanbul, which to my mind equates to a level of apathy now towards the FA Cup. An apathy, per my original point, that was not present in 2011.

Going to a shithole down south or spending a weekend abroard in an foriegn city, I,would opt for istanbul any day

Now not saying if the FA cup semi was held in bratislava people would make more effort (they would make less as it devalues it even more) but when the champions league final is at wembley I am less arsed about us getting there than say Prague or Madrid.

wembley is a shit stadium in a wanky area and really only appeal of it is gokng to the 2 cup finals, bar that I never want to go near the place, won't do semis any more or the charity shield

No more jumping for you Paul.

I agree that even the novelty of an FA Cup Final has now worn off, let alone a trip to Wembley. If I've counted correctly, the upcoming game will be the 21st competitive game we've played at Wembley in the last 15 years. I think I've done 18 of them and it's just another away trip these days.

I'll be deeply disappointed if we don't sell out our allocation for the final.
It will be a terrible look for the long term image and good of the club and give the "No fans" brigade all the validity they need for the next 20 years.

I'll be watching the match on my TV at home obviously. (I live remote).

Being a football fan is a journey of contradiction at times.

Big thumbs up to those who do go. Safe journey and hopefully you have a great day.

I'd be VERY surprised if this doesn't sell out. They haven't even mentioned matchday members in the criteria. It probably will go to members, but only for the really expensive tickets. They won't want to get people's hopes up unnecessarily.

Not sure what you're getting so worried about. Can't imagine the choice of football team is particularly tribal over there. Too many people get butt-hurt by internet trolls that they're never going to come across in real life and who've never set foot inside a stadium themselves.

8 of us just booked the train, slightly concerned about the scramble to get the last train but fuck it, if we miss it we get a night out in London and have a leisurely journey home on the Sunday
Same. If the worst comes to the worst we'll have a few beers in Euston and get the first train home.

What do we think this will sell out on? Any chance of it going to general sale?
No chance of general sale,

If you mean cityzen members with fa cup purchase history of some sort, then yes probably.
