Its obvious that it doesnt serve much purpose to react in a fashion of "omg thats so stupid" just to leave it at that. There is an ulterior agenda to all this imho that we should rather focus on.
There is more to the "Trump campaign" than just Trump imho, one can say that in modern times the science of social psychology is more utilized for private purposes to manipulate society rather than it would serve public health and mental well being. There are teams of spinners raised from such sectors like marketing hired by politicians who contemplate much of their media strategy and who likely guide Trump according to his aims, they might just as well be ok with this bombardment of nonsense as a way to numb down norms. Granted i believe Trump also makes rash impulsive decisions, there is probably some leeway as to what his inner circle is ok with and what they will go with.
What is the aim of all the backers of Trump? Laying down an capitalist dictatorship that has an expansionist bend?
Like to what extend can you joke about Trumps claims towards Panama, Greenland and Canada? Its all a joke until it isnt, meanwhile Trump is "popularizing" those ideas. If it were a matter of feeling out the base, it seems the Trump supporters would already be on board for Panama as a starter since "it really should belong to them".
On the whole the best we can hope is that his dumb actions cost him support and come to haunt him, with a significant part of the MAGA fanbase being so keen on swallowing crap whole there aint always much point to decrying those dumb actions and statements of him that have few actual consequence. The big consequences currently seem t be on the diplomatic level and bode ill for unity in the western world and global stability. And i have to say its surprising too how utterly inconsiderate Trump and his cronies are of the past US-UK relations, I bet you guys gotto love being arbitrarily put on the tariffs list too as if "nothing else matters" while "certain others" get a pass or even a carté blanche. I think it would be a bad move for the US to loose the UK as a willing ally but with how past adventurism has been controversial it would be hard now to justify another one of these to the British public i imagine if Trump was asking.
