Why did he only sign a new contract a few weeks ago? he may be protecting Milan but he is costing himself and us money as we will have to pay way more now than then. Silly move for him if he wants to leave, contracted until 2030 now.

In January everyone talked about doing business early and getting our top targets signed up so they can better integrate with the squad etc etc

So then we waited patiently til the final few days and still no news. Then we made a gaggle of signings that we didn’t want or need

Nico G wouldn’t get in the rags’ midfield, Khus is surplus to requirements and the Brazilian kid will never see the light of day

Let’s hope this window has better planning or better luck
Lol

Could be happy in Milan doesn't mean he won't move
Yep, happy in Milan, has opportunity to secure his future there but if a bigger better opportunity arises he will pivot but how was he to know that when he signed the contract. He did what was right for him. The only way it was silly for him to do it if he was adamant he wanted to play somewhere else and he's now priced himself out of that move.

Just to add perspective, these are Reijnders' domestic minutes played and international minutes played for the last three seasons:

24-25 4,321 + 605
23-24 3,871 + 631
22-23 4,843 + 0

Irrespective of your view of the Dutch and Italian leagues and the intensity of their respective competitions, those are serious numbers to post in three consecutive seasons. He's only missed one game to injury, back in 21-22, so if he signed, he'd be an oddity for the backroom staff.

He’ll get injured in his first training session and be out for three months. We do things differently here.

Clearly, that's why we're now being linked with Dani Olmo—because nothing screams City like signing yet another player with a worrying injury record. At this rate, our medical staff won't just be busy; they'll need reinforcements of their own. Instead of scouting talent, we might as well start scouting physios. We are so determined to give our physios something to do.

We should be targeting durable, high-availability players like Reijnders, especially given the demands of our system and schedule. The last thing we need is to gamble on someone whose fitness will be a constant concern.

So you're saying he's due an injury
