Reform 2025 Limited new name same business

On Friday I was talking to 1 of our deposed independent councillors. She was glad she didn't get in as she said she couldn't work with Reform UK. Then she told me 1 of the elected Reform UK councillors has been in touch asking for her assistance as none of the 3 elected councillors knew what to do when they got to the council. Basically asking her about the nuts and bolts of how it all ran. She refused.

That last line tells us all we need to know about how politics are so wrong in this country. Normally, when getting a new job, we’d be graced with a period of handover from the incumbent but in politics there is such animosity that they just leave a new incumbent to fail their constituents.

Personally, I think it’s disrespectful to the people they profess to serve.

Tice has just been on Peston saying 50% of Boston residents don't speak English. 30% don't speak any English. According to the last census it's actually 10% who state who don't have English as their primary language. 5% speak no English in Boston. Wonder why he would mis quote the figures

Normally you would expect someone standing for such a post would have some semblance of the process they were running for.

The Members just go off Officer recommendations and spend the first month being inducted and made familiar with everything.

It is a very part time job, no experience needed. The story will be complete bollocks.

Wait-One, elected councillors don’t have a say on how the Council is run?

Part-time job? I cannot believe that.

It depends. If the ruling group has a particular agenda that is legal and can be funded, the officers will do their professional best to implement it.

The key words here are 'legal' and 'can be funded'. Often, these days, councils have very little slack in their budgets, and you always have to stay within the law. For example, a council can't open a betting shop even if the entire council wanted one.

But if, for example, Manchester City Council wanted to turn Piccadilly Gardens into 5-a-side pitches, they could, as long as they could find the brass to do it.

Because it won’t get challenged. And, even if it does, one of their FIVE MP’s will be on another tv programme either the next day, the same day or, even at the same time…
A few of the Brexit diehards are now asking why we’re not part of the Dublin Regulation as that seems to be a good idea.
People who created the shitstorm now asking why the shitstorm is here…..If it wasn’t so tragic, it’d be enormously funny.

Not very community minded is she? Possibly why she didn't get re-elected.

Everyone has to start somewhere, sadly, we're not all blessed with an abundance of knowledge from the very start of any job we undertake and many of us have to ask for help, Regardless of what the switch was, be it Independent/Green, Lib/Dem/Reform or even Tory to Labour. or any other combination.

They should be challenged because when they are - like a Labour politician is as a matter of routine - they are not very good and get shirty under pressure

Of course they should. Starmer and co should also start to link everything back to Brexit. Everything Farage and Co told us was, in fact, a lie. This mass migration from Africa and Asia is a DIRECT result of Brexit. Exchanging an essentially transient workforce, with a workforce that is planning on being permanent and having brought extended family members with them.
Will they? Of course they won’t because they’re rubbish at politics.

To be fair to Farage, he doesn’t actually need to be PM as he’s been setting public policy for over 10 years and, hugely disappointingly, it looks like he’ll be setting it for the next 4+ years…

Just where are you on the stages of grief?

I think that you may be in the anger stage - but maybe still in denial?

Most people that I know that voted to Leave are fully understanding of the UK need for significant immigration.

Honestly, it is simply not true that people only voted to leave because they are all thick racists - that is just the narrative that some people established and want to maintain - even years later. There were/are other (valid) reasons for people to have wanted the UK to leave the EU

Perhaps some people need to move on - or at least try to. There are things happening with the key policies of UK government departments that are entirely incompatible with any plans or even have the possibility to rejoin. If (even) a Starmer led government is progressing to levels of acceptance then perhaps diehard Remainers should try to as well - it would surely help quality of life?

My co worker is a Reform and Farage fan who keeps spamming and sharing kick all Muslims memes and constantly posts how Muslims are taking over the UK, yet once the football starts and his Liverpool team plays he changes to " OMG king Mo Salah" " Love you Ibou"... I'm honestly wondering how these people operate or think ?

Lol.

Reform are a rabble of incompetent idiots. Just like UKIP before them.

The problem here is not with anyone other than reform who are putting people in to jobs/positions they are unfit to hold.

Everyone does need to start somewhere, however if you put yourself forward for a position a minimum expectation should be that you have some idea of what's involved. Typically most people in these types of roles have some experience of being involved in smaller councils or have been involved in forms of civic engagement that give them at least a basic understanding of what's involved. If someone rocked up for a job interview and had clearly done no research on what it involved or the organisation itself, you wouldn't give them the time to day.

What has happened in the recent election is there has been a heavy protest vote based on national rather than local politics and lots of people who either put their names down as paper candidates or were just cutting their teeth on getting involved have found themselves in roles they have not given much consideration to and doubtless in some cases now actively don't want.

Plenty of decent people who have worked hard for their communities have been booted out of office because lots of people decided to give the government of the day a good kicking without doing any due diligence on their local candidates. In light of this I can fully understand why they would no longer wish to give up their time when voters have behaved so recklessly.

Reform are very good at calling out the 'snowflakes' and the 'workshy' this is now their opportunity to put on their big boy pants, role their sleeves up and show us what they can do. Failing that, anyone who is surprised at being elected and doesn't doesn't feel they are right for the role should get off the pot sooner rather than later so that a more serious/appropriate individual can be elected.
