its funny how people call for full strenght team, best line up, going full force, to not tinker etc! So populistic really.

In reality what is our full strength first 11 at the moment is very debatable. Is O'Reilly or Nunes a full strength piece or its Akanji whose coming back from injury? Savinho has most assists for us, but couldnt finish. Would you put Foden or McAtee there or miss Haaland? Does Nico deserves a chance? Or Grealish who been one of our best players against Forest.

Its obvious that Pep and staff see people at the daily basis, during trainings, have all the data, sometimes info about off field issues.

Its natural we guessing the starting line up with better or worse arguments, but at the end of the day you have to trust our personel, who achieved so so much.
Not sure what your point is, my point is Pep has been fucking brilliant for us and I’m happy to leave things to him and his staff

Our pick up in results came when Pep decided to de-risk and play more conservative football using fullbacks for width. You can disagree. I don't think Pep actually likes the way he has set City up to play this season but he has done it to get results.
It rook him a while but yeah, definitely changed from expansive high risk to more solid football.

I'm actually with you on this, and usually I'm all for rest.

We last played on Saturday. Warm down day at CFA on Sunday. Day off Monday and, for me, they should have been back in and in prep for these last 3 games on Tuesday.

I get that this season has been mentally tough but physically, we still don't look particularly sharp. We've not had the Champions League playing every 3 days schedule since February. Obviously the Sport science department know better than me but everything has just felt a bit lax recently.
That's the point I was making but didn't get it across anywhere near as well as your good self.

I'd normally be for rest too, but really apart from being worn out from previous seasons ( and really how long does that last??) this season not as many games.

I know a lot of the players traipse off for 2/3 days when it's only one game a week ( which most of 2025 has been) as I see either they or their WAgs posting pix on insta. And they are most decidedly not in Piccadilly Gardens, or The Trafford Centre. Try Paris, Milan, even that there London ffs.

I honestly think after the no show at the fa Cup last year surely a vestige of professional pride and actually wanting to WIN something for themselves and knowing what an ' horrfic' season it has been (see Erlings interview) that they would want to train and be in good position for just a few days before such a major game.

Nothing against them resting/ going away when warranted but thfor me this verges on the ridiculous this season.

100,000 people might watch City over the course of a season and many different opinions would result. In part this is because we can't even agree on what we have observed.

Jesus man it’s not ice skating where you get points for artistic interpretation. His unrivalled track record of success suggests he sets his teams up to get results every season doesn’t it.

This unyielding "Pep FC" mindset drives me up the fucking wall. Have an opinion, it's football. You watch it, you do "understand" it regardless of what people think - and other people also "understand" it and disagree.

He's got history of fucking up team sheets in finals. And he's got history of getting it bang on. So who gives a fuck. If football was just about "leave it to the professionals" it would be boring as fuck. (did i break the record for fucks in a message? i hope fucking so).

Pep isn't beyond criticism, but it's football and sometimes the best team doesn't win - that's why we love it. You can prepare the team, get the tactics and lineup spot on and still lose. The players have to deliver and sometimes they don't. Sometimes someone scores a goal you couldn't have done much to prevent.

But his track record in finals is staggering. Out of all the finals he's been in he's only lost two - the CL fuckup you referred to and last year's cup final which was a shitshow.

Otherwise he's won every single one.

2 x Copa Del Rey
3 x CL
4 x Super Cup
4 x Club World Cup
2 x German Cups
2 x FA Cup
4 x League Cups

Not bad for an overthinker.
