President Trump

Maybe he should just let his music do the speaking...

After all it's what the audience actually paid lots of cash for.

And the where.. How about he does speeches on Trump in the USA where they actually elected him, and where they maybe able to do something about him. The folk of Manchester didn't elect the clown.

This made me laugh, do you go to the chippy and ask to buy a three piece suite? It's a Springsteen concert for god's sake! You get the whole package, not just the bits you like.

Rock music is not all about girls and taking drugs, it's an art form.

Take this....

John Singer Sargent, ‘Gassed’ (1919)

You reckon he should've stuck to painting flowers?

How about these?

And Springsteen has never been politically neutral...

Not all popular music is corporate mush.

I think everybody's aware that protest songs have been around as long as music itself? Not sure why listing some adds anything to the conversation.

In any event, this is a Trump chat, so you're welcome to the last word :-)

You don't like the message then don't go, you can't divorce the man from the message.

Springsteen has access to a mike - or prime-time chat - any time he wants it.

He doesn't need to - and is wrong to - force it down the throats of a captive audience. That audience didn't pay serious money because of his powerful political rhetoric. They wanted to hear his songs.

Of course, if he brings out a single of his speech and it reaches the charts, I'll happily agree that I'm wrong.

I think he has a track record for doing this kind of thing so maybe not that much of a surprise to his fans? Doubtless they'll have been casual fans who were unaware/unhappy.

It raises an interesting question around what have you bought when you buy a ticket for a piece of live art? To what degree are you buying a 'specific' experience or are you just buying access to whatever experience the artist chooses that particular event? I'd have some sympathy with the argument if an artist did an unadvertised volte face from their normal offerings (though even then you could argue art for arts sake) but I think in the case of Springsteen it's not a great surprise to see him doing that.

Been to a few of them matey, love Springsteen, but this was crap.

Next thing you know he'll be thinking that he's Bono and pretending to phone the White House live on stage..... :-)

After all how many votes for the mid terms does he think he's going to raise in Manchester ?

Because when you go to a Springsteen concert, or any concert for that matter, you get to experience the artist not just a performance, that's why you go. You don't like it stay at home and play his greatest hits with your finger on the skip button for any political messaging you find distasteful.

Bet you'll all love it if you've paid hundreds of pounds for a ticket to the match when suddenly, at a throw in, a player turns around, grabs a microphone and starts lecturing you. :-)
After you expressing admiration for Katie Hopkins the other day and being hostile to people who don't like Trump today, who’s next on your list of heroes? Putin or Farage?

The key thing about that Springsteen post isn't really the man baby ranting, it's the sinister thinly veiled threat towards the end. Without going far enough to truly implicate himself (a trick Farage has down too) you can easily read it either as the threat of state sponsored retribution upon return or encouragement / 'permission' for a nutter to take matters into their own hands.

This sort of stuff isn't just about a thin skinned narcissist, it's about silencing people either through indirect threats of violence, or escalating their costs for security or using the state to make their life difficult. The man baby bit is faintly amusing, the rest of it is anything but.
It's like the way he ordered the assault on the Capitol, without actually saying it in those words

Are you a real dick, or do you just act that way to WUM (not very successfully I might add ) ?

Show me the admiration, for both Hopkins, and Trump?

He doesn’t need to thinly veil his threats anymore. Having nullified any legal constraints he can say what he wants. We’re in dictator territory now.

One word to explain it:
Yanks
As much as I feel sorry for those Americans who feel exactly the same way about Trump as most of us, you'd have to hope that your answer is the correct one. And yet...

Having seen the recent UK local election results, we might have to wait and see, just a while longer?

You went to a lot of effort attacking people critical of Hopkins in the same way you have with Springsteen being critical of Trump. Why else would you do that if you weren’t a secret admirer without the balls to openly admit it.

Ah I see now, you lack for simple comprehension skills and leap to incorrect conclusions...

I take it it back about being a dick, you're just one of the pretend huge fish in the tiny pond in the sub basement of a single club, football forum !

True, maybe leaving himself a bit of semantic wiggle space is just an old habit that dies hard.

Imagine criticising someone for being critical of someone you don’t like.

Not sure what you’re on about with the fish thing. I’m sure you think you’re being clever just like you were with the football player finding a microphone during a match. How can I compete with such wit.

I’m sure you’ll be back with the last word anyway so fill your boots.

What happened to the proof I asked of you ?

Can't find it, that'll be because it isn't there. Only your baseless accusations stand.

Funny that isn't it ?

Such a snowflake that one, the classic I don't support them but please don't call Hopkins or Trump nasty names. Not even man enough to admit his soft spot for them.
