Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Bless.

We were shit today. Pep Guardiola takes ownership of the good days, he takes responsibility for the shit ones.

The most embarrassing thing today was him having a go at Henderson. He looked a right twat.

He's not got long left in the job after this season of boring, predictable, risk averse football, and in my opinion, he can't leave soon enough.

The whole club needs a refresh.
I normally rate most of your posts but that's a load of bollocks I'm afraid.

Henderson shouldn't have been on the pitch to make the penalty save. As always we didn't have the extra bit to really break them down despite our dominance.

Would love to know what Pep said to him at full time.
"I'll give you ten grand to show our keepers how to save penalties."

Just back at the Hotel Bar.

Very hard to win when none of your big players turn up at all. Haaland, Marmoush, KDB, Doku, Savinho & Foden all on the pitch and not one of them could provide a spark.

The keeper handling the ball outside the box and getting away with it Scot free somewhat frustrating but it felt like we could've played till Tuesday and wouldn't have scored. 4.5 hours of football vs the collective titans of Wolves, Southampton & Palace and we've scored 1 goal. 1.

The manager seemingly pulling selections/formations out of a random hat also quite bizarre. We don't see Echeverri for 6 months yet he gets pitched in for the last 20 mins of the FA Cup final. Rico & Grealish who played in every round don't see the field at all.

Haalands played 7 games now at Wembley for us and hasn't scored or influenced any of them. A damning stat for him. He hasn't scored in any semi or final for us either in 3 seasons and those are the games big players turn up and turn it on.

Both the wingers we started today - their best position is on the bench and 20 min cameos at the end against tired legs. Neither are good enough to start for a team serious about winning big pots. KDB again gave the ball away too much & once again failed to provide any spark when he used to run games like that. Sad to see him go but the time is right I'm afraid.

A waste of a day, another wasted final opportunity and tbh it's been a waste of a season where they've all gone off the boil - from the boardroom downwards to the squad, including the manager. This squad needs a huge overhaul.
Spot on mate

Don't be afraid. Be very afraid. Our iwners have zero football knowledge. They put all their eggs in the Pep basket and they've got no obvious succession plans for playing or coaching staff.

Extending Pep's contract was an act of desperation.

Foden has been turned into a frightened robot. Painful to watch a great player have the life coached out of him.
Can’t agree about having the life coached out of him look at his seasons before this one want he coached then? Clearly something isn’t right but it’s not worth speculating what it is as we don’t have a clue

Just got off a very quiet train at Gerrards Cross…..going to be a long night. (Started writing this hours ago)

We have just played nearly 200 minutes of football without really troubling the goal keepers of Southampton or Palace.

From behind the goal had a great view of the side to side turgid football we have been watching all season which ends up with the ball being recycled back into the middle and no end product.

Savinho was awful on the right but in his defence we delay the the ball getting to the wingers…but Pep really has to come up with another option.

Foden pulling out of tackles when he came on……KDB should have come off after about 60 mins, Akanji and Dias very ponderous on the ball……very little creativity.

Liked what I saw from Echerrveri in his cameo even though he should have scored.

Truth is we are just not good enough

Does move away from the fact that there isn't the quality in the squad...excuses stop us progressing

But in a major final, you hope both referee and VAR can get a major decision right for the good of the game
Yes, maybe it doesn't change Palace winning the cup because City did not turn up, but the pen save and Doku shot is not saved by the sub keeper

2 major chances Henderson doesn't save because he's in the tunnel watching

Says it all when we have akanji and dias on the edge of the box trying to create. It's gets to bogged down. More bothered about a 5 yard pass instead of a 15 yard in behind the full back for the winger to run into the box for a pullback or a deflected og

Lee. Every word is true. Quality post. We move on.

Yeah the life coached out is a ridiculous argument. You only have to look at the previous seasons he also had the life coached out.

everyone wants to vent and that’s ok but the problems are clear:

Injuries
Age
Mental & Physical fatigue
Squad is a busted flush but we won it all and it was great. So can’t complain now.

Season nearly over anyway. Next season the high demands need to be met and if not replace those who can’t.

Spend wisely in the summer and move out players who have lost that hunger/edge and start again.

slightly off topic but I don’t like our wingers. They don’t assist nor score and very rarely impact the game unless in a 20 min role. None of them will make it here if this level continues.

palace went with a plan we all knew how they would set up and they took one of there chances congratulations to palace on winning there 1st major trophy not going be say this didn't go for us ect can't always win trophies a rare blip being trophyless for a season

I am still shocked..
VAR and the officials can not be that bad, can they?

Everybody watching the replay can clearly see its handle outside the box, its not even close ? its a good yard outside the box,
makes no difference we didn't score were same as we have been all season wank
no point blaming the var or officials yes it was a sending off
but what did we do aparts from fuck all same old same old for the season
SHIT wrong line up wrong players playing old school
Roll on Tuesday
