Wenger was an invincible, how long can you dine out on that, without ruining your legacy?
4 in a row is the tougher achievement. Especially with both Red teams in the mix during that run. Difference is we have nothing left in the tank this season. If there is a repeat then by all means let him go the next summer. There is a distinct hint of impatience amongst the fan base.

But isn't what you've described the definition of someone's tactics being outdated?
We haven't got the players to play the system anymore. And yes that's on Pep, he should have seen certain players were on the decline earlier.

I'm not having it though that Pep's tactics from when we won the treble are suddenly outdated two years later, and won't be successful again if we get the recruitment right.

He deserves enormous credit for his achievements on and off the pitch where he has had to face a vile craven media for a decade. But, he looks knackered, the players look to have lost faith. He should see out this season and leave as a legend and we can erect a statue.

No no no. The decision to use tactics that are ineffective without the caliber of players to execute them IS the definition of an outdated tactic.

If when you have Messi, you play system X. And system X is great But system X doesn't work without Messi. And now you don't have Messi anymore. Continuing to use system X is using an outdated system.

If we lack the technical capacity to execute the system, then its an outdated system. Especially if we are failing against less talented teams.

In fairness, can you imagine the uproar if Haaland was fit but just sat on the bench.

The fact is, we should be a better team with him in it, so it's up to Pep to find a way to make that work.

The players available today were more than capable of beating Palace, but the application from Pep and the players has been piss poor all season.

Not really sure who you point the finger is, truth is we don't have enough fingers!
Would there be an uproar if we continued to win without him? I don’t think so.

We all questioned why he started against Southampton, he shouldn’t have started today.

On him again. Players carried put his instructions, his instructions arent working and haven't all season.

Said a few days ago in the pre-match thread O'Reilly cannot play left back as he'll get targeted and exposed in behind and look how they get their goal. If I can see that, there's no chance pep cannot and palace manager clearly did.

On the other flank Akanji was on the ball too much, not his fault, it's not his position but why didn't he at least bring on Nunes if not start him who is much more comfortable on the ball and will actually get down the line and put a cross In? 1 change, Nunes for O'Reilly, gvardiol shifts across, akanji goes cb and Nunes comes in at right back and we instantly look both more secure and more dangerous.

Savinho didn't have a good game other than a 10 minute spell where he could have had 3 assists but soon as he took him off for the entirely left footed foden any chance of a cross from that side vanished, it was an awful sub to make.

It's his philosophy about how football should be played, he's not changing it for one season and then going back to it the next, after a change of personnel.

I don't think his philosophy is to slowly swing the ball from one Center back to the next and around. That's what he has been doing all season. That tactic of having the centerbacks have majority of possession is outdated.

Everytime its the dominant pattern, we play poorly. Regardless of outcome That philosophy MUST change.

Have to say I've never come across such a bunch of wet fannied idiots as I've seen in the last few pages
It is not just four in a row that Pep has won ,it's six in nine seasons, three on three seasons at Bayern.
Three in four seasons at Barca. You don't win that over a prolonged period of time with tactical inflexibility that suddenly becomes outdated.
City have just had a poor season, Pep has some of the responsibility, all managers however great have had fallow periods the best have bounced back and Pep certainly is one of the very best.
Anyone thinking Pep should go needs to stick their head down a bog and leave it there till they've realized they are wrong or have choked themselves with the shit coming out of their mouths.

The team aren’t happy, they’re clearly not enjoying their football and they’re petrified of losing the ball and that comes from the manager.

He has been nothing short of magnificent for us but this style of football is as ugly and as boring as anything Allardyce served up.

I’m not expecting us to sweep the board every season but why hasn’t he changed things at all this season? Why are we so hell bent on having all of the ball and doing nothing with it but playing the same pass over and over again? Why can’t we switch our play up? Why can’t we alter the pace of a game when we want to? Why do we constantly get caught on the counter attack? Why do teams score against us with their first chance? Why have we got one of the best finishers in the game standing on his fucking heels game after game?

I just don’t get it. Injuries alone are not to blame for this.

All you've proved here is that you are good at being abusive.

Which is neither here nor there.

I'm not trying to prove anything but anyone thinking they know better than Guardiola is so dumb they'd lower the average IQ at Old Trafford

I personally don't have to know more than Pep to know he is reaching...

Im not half as good as Kevin either. Does that mean i cant or shouldn't have an opinion on whether he should leave after the season?

Your claim is a false equivalence.

way too many managers were able to punish us this season and quite a few of those with lot lesser squads. its one thing to get punched in the face by Ancelotti and Real Madrid albeit they are shit this season, or PSG and Luis Enrique who could be winning the TREBLE within 2 weeks.

but the likes of Soton, Palace, rags, Juventus, Sporting, Feyenoord fuck up, the away losses to Brighton, Bournemouth, Forest, Villa etc.
Spurs winning 4-0 at Etihad urgh.
Liverpool without sweat got all 6 points i league, we went to Arsenal to concede 5 goals.

throwing away leads and keep conceding so many goals from opponents first on target attempt, all year.

teams used to be scared of us, but an unusually high number of teams were ok to have a go at us and we were second best so often. or they sit back and have 2 attempts all game and that completely was enough.

how many teams missed pens against us this season? dont recall any saved or missed. we again missed a few...
general set pieces again were horrible. corners bloody hell.

Failure to make the champions league and I think he'll leave or get sacked. That would be a disastrous season and even scraping a champions league place would still be a total failure of a season, that was the bare bare minimum we would've expected at the start of the season

It's the players who can't play at the tempo or with the skills required.

De Bruyne is the only one who tries to make things happen, but he is past his best. Do you think Pep allows him to attempt to take risks but nobody else is allowed?

Pep's philosophy has always been, to control the ball and get the players into the final 3rd, then it's up to them to deliver.

We will see next season, if we're get the correct players in. And don't forget how important Rodri is to this team. I wouldn't write old baldy off just yet.

You claimed his use of Echeverri was down to his ego, when you have no information whatsoever about his or others performances in training.

That is idiocy on a level that suits a fan at Old Trafford.
