Thought the team selection was good, created enough chances for an easy victory, finishing was the problem, if you can't score from 12 yards out how's that peps fault, on the whole we played very well, controlled palace except the odd break away and should of won, a mixture of poor execution good goal keeping and the rub of the green, and imo a blatant red card, not sure how much more pep could of done to prepared them

Someone on here said in November that pep had lost the dressing room and they were berated but now how many on here think that? . I do feel that pep is done and better all round for him to walk off into the sunset being the greatest .

The way football is going you need 11 athletes playing for your team, in midfield you need someone that can cover the ground for 90min, that’s why Pep been looking at the lad from Forest, you need at least 2 very quick defenders so you can squeeze up the pitch and win the ball back in there half by closing down quickly and recovering.

Football is changing at a fast pace, and those that can’t keep up will get left behind.

It's genuinely insane how many are turning on him. I can't believe it.

It's been a disappointing season, but the hysteria about his tactics/football style/whatever you want to call it is so over the top it's comical. We've had unparalleled success for a decade now. We just wont 4 league titles on the trot. 20 trophies in 10 years, smashing just about every record in the book.

If we were to fire him, every club in the world would be calling his agent within the hour.
But with every great manager it ends though doesn’t it . City will never sack pep and I haven’t read any post saying sack him either but what many need to remember is pep is not bigger than Man City and we will be here a long time after he walks away . Tbh I think pep has looked lost all season and it’s only last minute goals and the post that we are still in the hunt for champions league . His private life has had a massive impact and he needs to sort that out as that’s far more important than a game of football . I think we need a change .

Yep but look at palace never pressed sat back defend deep win l the ball back break at a fast pace

We created enough yesterday to win the game, for sure.
A small change to some key personnel will be the key.
Having Rodri as the spare man on the edge of the box rather than Akanji or Dias will be rather different.
Let’s say you put rodrygo, wirtz, reinders, rodri into that team (I know they won’t all be coming)
I think foden, haaland etc will gain confidence and then the squad as a whole
At the moment we’re just limping to the finish line

One shit season mate

We may have to visit this tactic ourselves next season as a way of changing things up depending on the opposition. Pep needs to mix it up a bit and not play the same way, that’s his Achilles heel.

Then we will fail as we are talking about Man City one of the biggest clubs in the world being coached by a rookie . We need a top manager and with the World Cup coming up we will prob wait .
You mean like Pep when he took over Barcelona?
You mean like Xavi now?
You mean like Zidane when he took over Real?

A sensible take, IMO.
One point I would make is that we need a little more variety in our play to unlock these packed defences. I do think that Rodri and Bobb will make a difference here, but someone able to play those quick, accurate passes that were KDB's forté, is key.

We had a working back four, it wasn't great by all means but there was balance.

Nunes-Dias-Gvardiol-O'Reilly

Considering we were out of the UCL, the team had more of a break than usual, so not much needed to change. Akanji and Haaland has been out for a while with an injury and wasn't worth risking throwing them back in.

Why on earth did he decide to throw out a working balanced system in place of rushing players back?

I think he should be looking at going personally mate, I think we have missed the boat with Alonso as he would play the younger players and not give a fuck about past successes etc? Every headed clearance from one of our defenders yesterday was picked up second ball by palace as we didn’t have a proper 6 in there who would be in and around that position? Oh yeah…… we signed one in January who can’t get on the pitch it seems and yet again Bernardo Silva played that role!?! A full refresh should maybe come with fresh eyes and a system change imo.

Agreed, there was a sense of balance even if it was not perfect and then it seems to have been abandoned in favour of I don't know what.

You know this how? Guardiola only goes where he has total control of the club and unlimited funds to add to an already talented squad. It's insane how he has let the team fall apart. His private life should in no way effect Manchester City. It won't for much longer I'll wager.

Pep strikes me as a bit of a hoarder in real life, he’s always chasing after things but rarely making use of them, For example he demands extra substitutes, then barely plays them, he signs a bunch of new players, yet many never see the pitch. I can just picture his garage stacked from top to bottom with the toilet papers he bought during the pandemic...most of it still sitting there untouched.

The football is dire. He's the greatest manager we've ever had but it's reached the stage where there's literally no enjoyment watching us anymore. We pass the ball for the sake of it but without purpose. I can't remember the last time I watched us and was genuinely excited by it. It's properly turgid watching the speed at which we play.

Do you blame opponents who sit ten men behind the ball in any way whatsoever?

Pep is a god to me & always will be but I do worry he is just simply tired out? I think he could do with a couple of months in the sun to try and recharge his batteries but with this Club World Cup Thing I guess thats not even a option?
I Just hope and pray he gets his mojo back for next season.
