Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

If that defender got a touch on the ball it was hardly at all and that wanker Dixon kept crying that he touched it. He still took Bernie out when he didn’t need to make a tackle and I didn’t see Palace players complaining too much
It wasn’t a Pen in Dixons day, but nowadays it is all day long

Thank you, it’s been a long wait since my first game in 1961. I would like to say first of many but unfortunately I’m not sure

It's great winning silverware, but you have to enjoy the day and the parade, because before you know it, it's gone
Also, after the bigger clubs takes all your best players in the summer, fighting relegation will be your target

Just sick of the rampant denialism here...

"Oooo they wasted time".

"Oooo we had a decision go against us".

"Oooo if only Haaland had the balls to take the penalty".

Fact is, with the level of our team and our coach, if they'd been up for it, those things wouldn't have mattered. Simple.

Crystal Palace played as a proper team.
We looked like a group of individuals bereft of ideas. They executed their game plan, I don't know what ours even was.

Same question, really - did you say that after his first season?

So, if Haaland himself is the issue - and not the way we use him - by definition that means that you'd be happy to see him playing for Liverpool, or United next season, then?

Bollocks, would you :-)
Where have i mentioned him playing for anyone else?

I am not suggesting that every potential free kick should go to var (but even if the missed ones did I don't think that the game would last for 4 hours!), however the one yesterday was definitely clear and obvs and should have been subject to a sanction.
The moment in the game was important.
but it did goto VAR, VAR decided for reasons of corruption or incompetence, that there was nothing to see here, move along.

Or are you suggesting extending VAR powers to award free kicks, yellow cards, corners? throw ins? after the fact?. At which point you may as well save a few bob and sack the on-field officials and just officiate the game via the VAR screens.

What you (seem)to be asking for is contrary to what most football fans want, I suspect far more would want to see VAR abolished than its powers extended

I've only read the last few pages but as a City fan I'd just like to congratulate Crystal Palace. They won't care whether Henderson should have been sent off. Or who should have took our penalty. On the cup it will just say winners Crystal Palace.
Let's be gracious in defeat and accept they've caused us plenty of problems before, even this season.
A fanbase that's never seen them win a major trophy. Christ we knew how that felt until just over a decade ago

No I am not asking for var to be given extended powers, far from it.
My point is that there was a clear and obvious incorrect decision (the handball by Henderson) which Stevie Wonder would have called.
The handball was where the focus of the decision making should have been and not the DOGSHIT which followed. I believe, at best, var bottled that decision, as Haaland was preparing to control the ball and would most probably have scored, were it not for Hendersons' clear push on the ball.
Var, unfortunately or not, is here to stay, but if it can't be relied upon to bring attention to/put right a clear error, (which is supposedly its' whole purpose), then get rid.

Well done Palace. That feeling in 2012 was unreal and solemnly, congratulations…

VAR also made a very "interesting" decision about a Rodri handball a couple of years ago that instrumental in us winning the title. We weren't complaining back then.

There was another one with sterling in a close title race.

People really do have short memories.

Darren Cann: His past with Crystal Palace led to some controversy, notably when he was removed from officiating a 2017 FA Cup tie between Crystal Palace and Manchester City due to potential bias concerns.

But VAR is fine !?

Addditionally… he’s been previously stepped down from a game between city and palace so why didn’t he recuse himself of his duties?

Same as the game against them a home - his last ever game as an assistant- he didn’t flag their 3rd goal that VAR overturned.

Bent ****
