Florian Wirtz

Honestly as long as we get top 4 for the next few years, I think it’s good. We won’t be able to and shouldn’t be expected to compete every year. Every club goes through a low unless you are Real Madrid.

We just gave Haaland a 10 year contract. He’s on 500k minimum. We spent 200 mil. The charges aren’t a thing. Wirtz was almost guaranteed to bang for us like Haaland. He was one of the best talents out there. It’s deffo no about money. He just said no to us like Rice and Jude. We can still have a 10/10 window. The just have to lock tf in

We spent in Jan out of desperation due to the squad falling apart, and after having a few relatively quiet windows in terms of net spend. We could have been spending more than we have, but have chosen not to.

Haaland's 10 year contract doesn't mean much - if he decides he wants out, we'll end up selling him.

The top players can pick between top clubs. The charges have put a slight negative against us for years. If it wasn't for those I believe more top players would have come to us.

Of course, there's still a lot to be said for signing hungry players from the level just below and them making their names with us. They are just less certain in terms of output I guess.

I don't think next season is about winning the PL and CL. The rebuild will take longer than a summer. Next season is about getting the good vibes back at the club, going for the League Cup (or FA Cup again), and trying to finish more comfortably than we have this season. Summer 2026 is when the team will aim to be completed, for the 26-27 season.

Where we are right now is roughly where we were during the final season under Pellegrini, 15-16. We had lots of ageing players and some past-it legends who need shifting, we got 65-70 points in the league, and were just about hanging on in the race for CL football in the 16-17 season. That summer was the first little step back to the top, then summer 2017 put the finishing touches in place.

I think players like Ait-Nouri, Eze, Gibbs-White, etc. are currently the kind of profile we should be going for. Young and energetic, they know the Premier League well, they're stand-out players in their current teams, they would understand what Pep wants from them and add to our squad. In addition to players like Cambiaso and Reijnders, they would be sensible additions to the team.

Should we sneak top four this week, I think we get these six lads in, get Rodri back, finish as fairly competitive runners-up (to either Liverpool or Arsenal) in the league, make a good show of ourselves in the domestic cups but fall short in Europe, and then make big moves immediately afterwards. My prediction is that Pep signs off with a PL title in 2027 and bows out.

Even though I think he's got one more PL title in him with City, I actually think it might be worth letting Pep go this summer because he's just beginning the downward slope away from his peak and there are managers like Xavi, Inzaghi, and Enrique available. Right now we're a bit like Arsenal in 2009 and we don't want to get stuck in the "Wenger can turn it around" cycle they did. But I guess Pep's earned the right to try and build something new.

Ederson
Cambiaso Dias Gvardiol Ait-Nouri
Rodri
Eze, Reijnders
Foden, Haaland, Marmoush

[new GK]
Nunes Khusanov Ake O'Reilly (Akanji)
Kovacic (Bernardo)
Gibbs-White, Nico G (Lewis)
Savinho, Bobb, Doku (Echeverri)

That's enough to finish 2nd next season and make a go of it in Europe.

Understanding what Pep wants and being able to perform it are two different things for starters.

If we fall further behind it will take even more money and investment to get back to the top

The players like MGW, Eze play in systems way different to ours....big risk getting them to adapt....also they aren't CL quality players which is where the club needs to stay

Some very small and dubious reports around that tge scouse vermin have submitted a first offer.
If true that is shocking ftom our club that we aren't prepared to match it.....

Pay peanuts....get monkeys as the saying goes

Hopefully as it's small time twitter it's bullshit
Or pay 100mil and get grealush

But Reijners and Cambiaso are. As is Rodri, who will be like a new signing. If MGW is the only midfielder we bring in then we've got some issues but Reijnders on top would be grand.

Some of you lot need to take a look at yourselves with the reactions on here.
Absolutely embarrassing and symptomatic of how spoilt a few have become.

So what if we appear to have missed out on a player because we are not prepared to pay daft money. Why the fuck should we get ripped off? It's about value, and it could be part of negotiations anyway.

Move on FFS

Look yourself mate blindly believing in Pr spin on getting rejected

You think teams register interest without knowing costs? Lol

After Salah and Van Dijk renewing they won't be able to afford Wirtz.

We already have a Wirtz in our squad, his name is Phil Foden. Seems an awful lot of people have forgotten.
The best signings we can make this summer is getting Rodri back fit and Foden back to his best.

Oh and Rindjers and a couple of full backs of course.

Possibly a top winger.

Maybe a new goalie, but apart from that...

Oh it would be fine if we didn't pay daft money for Grealish, Phillips, Nunes and probably Gonzalez too, that's a quarter of a billion right there.

we are in for a long season. We had an opportunity to turn the page this summer and we are full on blowing it.

We're starting to look more and more like the rags now with some of our transfer decisions.

Missing out on Rice and ending up with Phillips went well, eh?
We signed Phillips a year before Rice moved so wasn’t a back up option. We now know that the Phillips signing was a shit option!

Nunes was the underwhelming replacement option for Rice / Bellingham.

Undoubtedly we need to get really decent options on board this summer, players that have the belief and confidence (as well as the ability) to cut it with us.
