Florian Wirtz

Being realistic, It was never the impression he was coming here anyway so it's not really big news that we've left the race for Wirtz, Not that we were in it to begin with!

It's nailed on that it's going to be Morgan Gibbs-White, The way we've conducted our business over the last few transfer windows it will be Morgan Gibbs White along with James Ward Prowse ffs...

We are going down a slippery road with the players we are interested in, Before you know it we are way behind other teams which is exactly what's happening.

Pr spin already out, about Foden bouncing back Pep remains a big fan.

It's not PR spin, it's the truth. Guardiola obviously loves Phil and everyone expects him to bounce back next season in a fully functioning team. The snideness around Phil is second only to the snideness around Pep at present. All very weird.

Nice to see that you take notice of the papers/media/social media on our "transfer targets".

Always had my doubts once Musiala signed a new deal.

Heard nothing in recent weeks to say Wirtz was seriously coming here.

Suspect Wirtz was doing Leverkusen a favour maximising his price.

Don't believe for a second City haven't known the costs involved.
I’d like to believe we have been using this story to firm up our real targets
Not holding my breath though

whether or not phil bounces back, we need another #10 because KDB is leaving. I am scared that they end up just keeping gundo, bernardo, kovacic, and adding maybe reijnders and that's our midfield next season. its not a rebuild.

Expect Rodri, bobb, Phil and Haaland to be back firing next season

I still reckon we cut back our spending a few years ago and continue to mention value, pull out of deals etc, to look good for the charges against us. It shows we aren't just throwing it around and taking the piss. Shows there was a plan to live within our means.

And yet, as the charges drag on I'm also sure that some players are preferring other options to us because of the charges hanging over us.

That needs putting to bed and soon.

In terms of Wirtz, he wouldn't have played against a deep back 10 often for Leverkusen. There's no certainty he'd have been a success. Disappointing if he prefers elsewhere, but we'll manage.

TBF, if we try and be positive about this, Foden has proven he can be a top class number 10.

If we assume (or blind hope) he gets his form back, then it allows us to invest in two full backs and wide players with end product.

Plus, MGW isn't top draw, but he does have the energy, aggression and legs that we have badly missed.

Sorry, trying to convince myself this might not be a bad thing!
