I don't disagree with him being in all the papers. I've seen it as well. By many accounts, he's a good lad. But, also by many accounts, he likes a drink or ten.

Comes across as a lovely human being I agree, but with a problem with the drink.

I have no problem with players having a good drink. It did David Silva no harm.

If Jack does have a drink problem, why hasn’t he been fined or suspended by the club? Why does he get selected in the matchday squad so regularly? Why haven't the club sent him to the Priory to dry out?

The reason is because Jack doesn't have a drink problem. He likes a drink, he gets pissed occasionally, and has his photo taken.

As far as we're aware, he turns up for training on time, and follows Pep's tactical instructions to the letter. That said, it's not too difficult to stand out on the touchline, get the ball and pass it backwards to Gvardiol, or have a mazy run across the pitch before recycling the ball to Gvardiol.

It's less to do with drink than it is with his wanting to express his personality. That's what Pep doesn't like. Jack is a maverick, and that's not in Pep's playbook.

Jack is Jack the lad. Another no-no for Pep.

It's a clash of personalities that only Pep can win. Add to that that it's almost certain that Pep had little to do with Jack's signing. It was more likely a matter of Txiki throwing daft money around because he saw a release fee.

Jack was a £30m player, tops. City made him a megastar simply by paying £100m for him. That was the killer. He was never going to meet that level. He's Steve Daley all over again.

I loved the lad at Villa. I hope he goes back to being that lad wherever he goes next.

I like Jack mate, but for an athlete he can sure sup.

Do you think it's Pep that's the problem (That isn't a loaded question BTW)

I think this is spot on. You'll have dumb fuck posters like Meesh come in here screaming that it's his "off the field" that gets him benched but there is literally nothing to suggest that, especially recently as in 2025. Him on a bender after the treble is not it either, half the team did the same. He played in the semi against Madrid, and played well, then is benched again, with AFAIK no articles about him "partying" in that time. Its bullshit.

I'd just like to know the truth but we'll never get it unless Pep or Jack speaks about it later in time.

Look at some of the players Pep is believed to have 'had a problem with'...

Ibrahimovic
Yaya Toure
Sergio Aguero
Vincent Kompany
Joe Hart
Samuel Eto'o
Dante
Fabregas
Cole Palmer
Joao Cancelo
Zinchenko
Kalvin Phillips

All effectively 'sidelined' or tolerated until they could be offloaded. Some possibly deserved what they got, but most simply challenged his 'thinking'.

Pep doesn't do discussion or negotiation. His word is gospel and that's that. He's ruthless and unforgiving with players he falls out with, but will stick by 'yes men'.

He's not paid to be nice, so he isn’t.

Well at least Jack made the bench unlike lewis and mcatee, surely the end of all three. I do think we are a better side with Jack in it but Pep is clearly not happy with something going on and unfortunately for Jack its a battle he wont win. This season should have been about getting his head down and grafting to within an inch of his life after missing the euros last year. I dont know what hes up to in his spare time but putting videos of himself up online appearing drunk(even if not and on a day off) at a Rod Stewart concert somewhere in Europe is not what I would be doing personally. Should have had his down all year but clearly hasnt. Its a pity I am a big fan but hes won the lot and can retire into the sunset a rich and succesful man.
Me neither. You couldn't pay me to go to a rod stewart concert.

The makings of a decent side, there.

maybe he's having one of the greatest rests in football history, to come back next season as the world's foremost number 10.

perhaps.

Was there any indication from him or other player, save de Bruyne, that they were off last night?
Not that I saw. The night belonged to Kev though, so I imagine anyone else would feel like an interloper should they show their hand.

What hurts the most is that we can't get absolutely no money for him, on the other hand Villa sells Duran to the Arabs for insane amounts...
No words

I’m sure someone in the league is willing to give us 30-40m for him. Bigger issue is the wages 330k per week. Peps worst big money signing ever imo, not only because he had 4 good months in 4 years, but the reputational damage he caused Pep “pep kills flair, look what he did to Jack Grealish” as those idiots on talk sport say.

Jack almost certainly wasn't a 'Pep signing'.

He's a Txki signing, probably along the same lines of Swales signing Steve Daley without consulting Malcolm Allison about the fee.

Jack has never been more than a £30m player.

maybe Spurs can spend some of their CL money on him. I guess he could be useful there with Son deteriorated, Maddison injury prone and Richarlison also quite mediocre for them.

we have to compensate though for his salary. 200k max he can get but imo would be foolish for his next club to do a 5 year club on 200k as what if he spends half his time at the pub for that salary. the older he gets the less professional he will be.
if he gets like 200k offered and is on 300k here, his agent will ask us to compensate him for that two years left o his contract of salary difference. that will be another 10m paid to him maybe bit more with loyalty bonuses and whatever other crap we gift players.

we simply cannot have him doing so much bench time and be only behind Haaland on the salary list next season. likes of Gvardiol played his ass off this season for probably half the salary. Gvardiol around 4500 mins played which is sick and some more for Croatia, Grealish played around 1500 mins and nothing for England.
