Haha I don't know how to even quantify that. Either way, the fact that we're having this conversation kind of goes to show just how poorly this move has gone.

Again, wouldn't go back and change it. We won everything and he played a role in that. But I'm sure that role could been filled by someone else at a fraction of the cost. Possibly even an academy player.
 
One of those signings where we went the rags way of dealing with a sudden upturn of events - Messi deal fell through - there was money burning holes in the pocket so here come Grealish.

Reminds me of another one of those mistakes - Nunes because Paqueta deal fell through and Rice said No.

Both players great characters , nice personality but in their own ways not fit to play for city long term. And we burned 150 million because of this. In the days of PSR and FFP these are big big errors and the repercussions are there to see.
 
Talented player, likeable bloke and I wish him all the best.

From the outside it seems pretty clear he has his demons. Emotionally sensitive and lacking in confidence, struggling with the pressures of fame and its restrictions on a "normal" life.

I can't shake the feeling that the club could have done more to help him overcome that stuff. I assume we can afford one of the best sports psychologists in the business and if we haven't had him working with one then that feels like a mistake. You can only help someone who wants to be helped, though.

He's worked hard and been a sometimes too-selfless teammate on the pitch. The other players seem to love him.

Gundogan in his leaving letter:
"I just want to say that Jack Grealish is so misunderstood by some of the media. He's one of the nicest guys I've met in football. He's so much fun to be around and so humble and pure."

It's looked obvious he's leaving for a while now and being left out of this squad looks like another nail in the coffin. This is probably the best thing for both the club and the player, but I would have liked to see him get the chance to properly say goodbye.

He leaves with a shitload of money, an impressive trophy cabinet and some incredible memories.

I hope that wherever he goes, he's able to resurrect his career and show what he can do in a fresh environment with a fan base that will no doubt adore him.
 
I absolutely love Jack as a person, seemingly a kind hearted soul. Maybe lacking the fire in his belly that can truly push on players to perform at the elite for so many years.

Numerous players have said playing for Pep completely takes it out of you, in the sense he’s an intense coach who pushes you to the limit.

Jacks given me pleasure during our best ever season (treble). He was a fundamental cog in that team, he seems beloved by the players.

For his sake he probably needs a new challenge, so I’m hoping Newcastle or Spurs do come calling, can build a team around him and he really gets going again.

I know he’ll be getting a huge standing ovation if he does change clubs. As city know how to treat ex players - unlike a certain other north west club.

It’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. I wouldn’t want to bemoan any player who leaves after the memories they’ve provided.
 
Could be injured.
Could have depression or other mental health issues.
Could have cheesed Pep off because he was drunk at Kev’s leaving do.
Could be that Pep thinks other players have trained better and deserve a spot in the squad.
Could be that he thinks Doku, Savinho, Foden, Bernie, Echeverri give him better options against Fulham
None of us know, but what we do know is that Jack won a fistful of medals here, has played some excellent games for us and some not so good. We’ve seen him treat people with disabilities with the utmost compassion and kindness (think blind girl ignored by everyone until Jack stepped in) and has literally given youngsters some of the best memories in their lives (think young City fan who Jack did his goal celebration when playing for England)
I don’t doubt he’ll move on next season.
But from my perspective, he’ll do it with a very big thank you. Once a blue always a blue.

4 years, 7 trophy’s including a massive part of our treble & the greatest meme ever from the parade.

As far as I’m concerned it worked. Yeah he cost £100m but when I compare him to Anthony, Maguire, Pogba Rice, Fernandez, Caicedo & Lukaku, he’s a fucking steal.

Cant wait til he’s one of the ex pros, fat as fuck in a blazer chatting to fans in hospitality & I’ll treat myself.
 
Think all this talk of benders, celebrations, being a lad etc is just an easy out. An easy excuse to make up for the fact he was never good enough.

I don't think it was ever for a lack of trying. He soent every summer working his balls off, and putting it out there how much of an effort he was making, only to be on the bench. He got brougt on to prove himself in games, gave it his all, got benched the next game.

Maybe he has given up now at the end. But doubt it was for having a few drinks. That was an easy thing to latch onto. A nice guy, hope he finds the right club.
 
I did at the time wonder how Pep would react to Jack's over the top celebration of the treble.
Pep doesn't seem to mind a day or two of the lads letting their down, but over two months !.
Always has a feeling Pep wouldn't be happy with how Jack spent that time off.
 
Football clubs are ever evolving, but we do seem to be losing people that are characters, and an important part in squad dynamics. It started with Raheem & Riyad, Kyle mid season, and now Jack’s looking like he’s on his way, with potentially another couple that might include John Stones. That’s the core of our English lads gone, throw in the kit man and maybe even Scott Carson (if rumours are true) then that starts to feel like a monumental shift. I know we can’t keep players around for bants on fat contracts, but the next crop do come across as being a bit beige, Haaland aside

Could have easily gotten Maddison with 30m out of that 100m. A much more better player with no "extra luggage". Pep tried to show the world how much of a genius he is by attempting to reinvent a player and the attempt backfired spectacularly, Jack was Pep's vanity project nothing more, nothing less.
 
Will forever be thankful for his contributions in the Treble season, but he's ultimately leaving a flop. Went from a key cog, to a bit-part player, to a complete non-entity.

Lovely lad, but does not have the commensurate attitude of a top level athlete.
 
Didn't Guardiola say a week or two ago that he is rotating the bench (now we have a pretty much fully fit squad), so that the same players aren't missing out on being in the squad? Maybe it's to do with that.

It's possible that he is ill or picked up a knock in training. Maybe personal issues.

I guess the reason doesn't really matter as he wouldn't have been playing anyway.

I like him and wish him all the best for the future (except when he plays us of course). I think he'd be a very good signing for a club that plays in a way that suits his game.

Brilliant during the second half of the treble season to be precise. He should've kicked on from there, but ended up being a flop.

I may be being alarmist but I'm getting vibes Phil will go the same way. We really can't afford for that to happen. The club need to rally round him this summer and sort it out.
 
Flashes of a very good player, shame it's not worked out.

I can only assume his change of playing style was under Peps instructions but, it's seemed to make him a bit of a scaredy cat on the pitch.

Did a lot for other people from what I've seen off the pitch but, his biggest problem seems to be saying no to another drink and not being able to knuckle down.

Seems a pretty good bloke overall, hopefully he can get another chance in the Prem at a decent level club although the way he plays he'd do well in Spain/Italy.
