Tbh, and I know I'm more or less alone on this, but I don't think his performances have ever been all that different for us. They weren't incredible during the treble run-in, but they haven't been rubbish since. I don't think he has been doing much different.

But when you're winning matches, winning trophies, then people see the positives. When you're losing, nobody is doing enough.

Also think the way other teams have set up has changed to cope with Haaland, and that's resulted in Pep changing formations quite often to try and improve things. That's ended up seeing his less suited to what we need out wide at times.

I'll always like him once he leaves and hope he gets a decent reception when returning. Overall he's played his part (just try and forget the fee).

In some ways he makes me think of the Gazza of the early nineties. Heart on his sleeve, not bashful about his weaknesses/vices. A good lad. Except that Gazza, despite winning virtually no trophies (I think maybe it was actually no trophies?) clearly established himself as one of the most naturally talented players of his generation.
He's obviously going, but could I just say that in most of his (few) appearances this season he's looked not bad to me — certainly as good as a number of players out on that pitch — and against Chelsea he was downright good.
Wish him the best, and hope he finds a club where he can settle. I genuinely do. Is it completely off the wall to think of him going back to Villa? Obviously at a greatly reduced price. It's been seen before.
 
Underrated at times but clearly Pep never accepted his character flaws. I can’t remember him letting us down this year when he’s played. I thought he was huge in the treble season. I’d still always pick him over Doku and Savio and I will always remember him chasing Salah down and making that interception.
 
The 100m price tag ruined him, was nowhere near that value and whoever sanctioned the deal needed firing. Not Jack's fault we paid stupid money for him and it hung over his head. He was very good in the treble season but that was it really, no idea how we sell him though and for what price and 300k a week wages

Did he though? Because he was posting pictures training abroad for most of that summer.

Or do we just believe what the media print now?
 
Greslish and Phillips - not Pep's finest hours.
Shame - were decent players but dropped like radioactive waste, prematurely.

I know the Peppers won't have one word against him and will square every circle to do so. So futile.

Management isn't just about managing Lewis type attitudes. Handling those with issues and problems is the skill.
A one size fits all approach seems to be Pep's m.o.

But hey "look at the success".

Agreed. He’s not a player who dribbles past his marker and instead is one with brilliant vision and execution of a pass. But to be able to show those abilities, he needs runners around him and we’ve not really had that from midfield for a couple of seasons.

I remember the Madrid home game in 2023 where he took the piss out of Carvajal all night and he did the same thing - stand him up, cut inside and play a well-timed sideways(!) pass to an oncoming runner (usually Gundo) and it worked a treat every time. I’m sure the second goal came from it as well.

It sounds like such a simple action - but none of the other wingers have done it/do it apart from Mahrez. Same way they both ‘pass’ a cross rather than just aimlessly put it into an area. I bet Haaland loved playing with him. But admittedly it’s not enough to keep him based on that.

Annoyingly, I bet he’d work a treat with Reijnders because his movement is fantastic from midfield which would cater to Grealish’s strengths.
 
We are gonna be stuck with his £300k per week wages for another 2 years until his deal runs out. 12 premier league goals in 4 seasons.

No other team will touch him. Fucking 29 years old and an absolute embarrassment to his profession.

Watch the media blame City for his demise.
 
Players need rhythm and under Guardiola that is already hard to attain, but if you are then perceived as not applying yourself appropriately, it’s made doubly difficult.

Beware of any Elie athlete posting images of their "extra" training regime, Rashford did it constantly.
Elie athllets just get on with it, it's their way of life.
I do find it strange that on his recent days off Jack would rather go on the piss far away from his new born and Mrs.
 
If his off the field activities or attitude are a problem then it his own fault .
Clubs will now know Pg wants him out of the club & will most probably try to take him on loan now with us paying part of his wages .
Sometimes i do think Pg sees his arse & can be cold & ruthless .
Will khusanov be next ?
