It's Quiet the £250m return

Yes and no, cost them nothing, but see your point, club should have shifted him last year, their failure. I’m not sure if Foden was off to RM after contributing to our success he would be booed, however who knows
No don’t think he would, but I’d expect him to tell us a t least a year before his contract ended that’s what he wanted and give us the chance to get at least some sort of fee for him. Maybe Arnold did tell them and they decided to let him run it down and get another year out of him, who knows really.

We've had Doue, Barcola and Yamal which are fair shouts, maybe Pino, Guler if counted as a winger, so if it's apparently an insane opinion who else are you saying?
To be fair to you - I don't know - I follow City, not so much looking all over World football unless we're linked to them.
You've already mentioned 3 that are way better (if somewhat unobtainable). I find it hard to accept there aren't a fair few more better than our two. Anyway, for me it's not about winger Top Trumps and their rankings - imo, we shouldn't have touched them with a bargepole. Wrecked our system.

One thing Doku is not is weak, he is powerfully built and is very rarely outmuscled. He frequently comes away with the ball in duels with defenders.

I don't know how our wingers will finally work out, to me they have both shown quite a lot of real ability that hasn't really been consistent in a team which has collectively underperformed and Doku has had quite a few interruptions through injury.

I can certainly remember FFS Mahrez, Sane and Sterling all getting similar grief at similar stages in their City career.
For me Savinho has done pretty well in his first season.

Imo the system wrecked itself. We compress teams to play tiki taka, but then have a striker who can only work in space, and who's such a goal threat all our wingers are there to do is beat a man and square it to him.

I still don't think better wingers, with the same age or potential as Savio and Doku are out there for us. If they ended up being understudies to Marmoush and possibly Rordrygo that'd be more than good enough for me.

Mahrez, sane and sterling all ultimately produced in the end. Sterling had some absolute stinkers in big moments though but for him his movement is so far beyond savinho and doku it's pointless comparing. Sterling put himself in advantageous positions to be wasteful and get away with it because he'd continue being there and eventually score. Doku and savinho have to work extra hard to even come close to creating advantageous positions because they aren't as intelligent and savinho is just too soft at the moment. Mahrez is also an elite footballer who fit in well with our style.

To be fair Sterling played with a far more mobile centre forward, Kun took defenders away and Raheem popped into the space. Erling just lumbers around in the penalty area.

I couldn’t care less about ffs Sterling or Sane, back then they had prime David Silva and KDB pulling the strings behind them. This Doku guy is a joke. He beats his man occasionally, sure, but since he’s a terrible passer and painfully slow in decision making, it’s all useless. You’re not winning the CL with a player like this, that’s the truth, whether it hurts you or not, no one cares.

Don’t compare this team to the one with Sané and Sterling, we had the best midfield on the planet back then, plus prime Walker. Man it’s a completely different situation. And now you expect these guys to deliver miracles? This guy can’t even make a proper pass, he just blindly whips it into the box and hopes for the best.

And Mahrez was pure class. We'd be lucky to get someone like him this summer. The ball actually stuck to his feet, not bounced off like some of these..

People forget football is a squad game. Doku is a handful for plenty of fullbacks and has proved effective at coming on and changing games. He’s only 22 years old. Do I think he’s ready to be starting every week if we want to be the best team in Europe? No. Would I want him in my 25 man squad. Absolutely.

If you’re going to take one game then you could ask the same question of pretty much all of our lot in so many games this season
You'll get no disagreement from me there - there has been a distinct lack of drive and leadership on the pitch in certain games. That's something we need to bring in as certain experienced players leave.

Players with the most key passes in TOP 5 leagues this season. I mean, if the boy can make 95 chances in the mediocre club of Villareal, it is certain that he would be more than good here.
It's a shame that we are no longer linked to him in rumours.

For instance, KDB had 105 key passes in the 2017/18 season, 136 in 2019/20 (a record-breaking season).

Fine as a squad player, impact sub and occasional starter, agreed
But he’s had two full seasons now. Has he really progressed much, if at all, since we signed him?
He is what he is, and that’s OK if he’s willing to accept that role.
But I remain unconvinced how coachable he is, or how much higher his ceiling is, on current available evidence

going to Atletico by all accounts (and hes a major ****)

Feels massively like our outgoings are every single bit as important as the incomings. Almost a carbon copy as the summer after Pep’s first season.

Need to get rid of a mix of aging legends and players that just are good enough.

Where’s in that season it was Zaba, Clichy, Kolarov, Navas ect. Being replaced by Bernardo, Walker, Ederson, ect. This season we need to get it just as on the money as then.

For me Bernardo, Akanji, Grealish, Stones or Ake need to go. We just need to make sure we get the incomings right..

Ye true but even with that said, sterling is a willing runner and would still be effective with haaland in the team. Even back post runs for crosses, doku is rarely positioning himself to score or be effective with them, sterling always would
