It's Quiet the £250m return

Looking like Ait Nouri instead of Cambiaso. If I was guessing I’d say we wanted Kerkez who is off to Liverpool and Ait Nouri is our back up with Cambiaso as third choice.

I think we certainly have to consider spending big on Livramento because of his home grown status with Grealish and Walker off and doubts over Stones and Ake.

In an ideal world we pick up an homegrown number 2 keeper but hard to find anyone good enough.

Unless Trafford is happy to come back and do it?

Can say what you want about their abilities but Gibbs white has by far the better attitude and application.

He is a real leader and has his head screwed on. He is energetic and will bring a dimension we are seriously lacking (I.e he covers ground, is aggressive, hungry to win).

We also need homegrown players. It’s a good move imo and I don’t see the similarities to grealish or Phillips for that matter (I was against both signings at the time so this isn’t hindsight)

Maybe his attitude is great, I don’t know him personally so I can’t say. I do however remember him getting Rodri sent off a couple of years back and he did so in a way that I’d rather our players didn’t replicate.

I wonder if we’ve stopped looking at Cambiaso because of his injuries

I would love Joao Neves, but no chance I think.

Grealish and Phillips were both better when we signed them, yesterday MGW showed nothing, anonymous for 98mins, he (as all Forest players were) was technically a level below Chelseas.
He didn't show any energy, or hunger, he stood around looking out of his depth, for the most part.

Does it bollocks.

Reijnders has played in a midfield for a team that finished 6th in Serie A who only scored 61 goals.

MGW has just finished 7th with Forest.

The only world class player we have now is Rodri and we're hoping he returns the same player after a serious knee injury.

These players we've been linked with are average at best.
That's surely because you are assessing them playing within their current teams not how they might do in ours, which is what our scouting team are paid to do

Nobody is pressing our goalkeeper anymore.

That's been the big difference for our build up lethargy.

We need a goalkeeper who can command his area at set pieces and make actual saves.
correct but also not a total donkey with the ball, will still need to receive the ball, control and lay off

Great attitude? Whenever I’ve watched him he’s moaning at team mates, and not in an encouraging way. Decent player though, but hardly at the elite level

Mental logic.

There are loads on here clamouring for Palmer.

His team only finished 4th. That makes him average?

With all due respect, I’d argue that MGW hasn’t proven he can succeed against parked buses either.

Don’t get me wrong, what Forest have done this season is impressive, but they have been an incredibly counter-attacking team. Gibbs-White seems to usually excel when he’s on the counter.

Yet many wanted us to spend £150m on Wirtz, using the same arguments and criteria?

I am comfortable enough at least to state MGW is winning the ball back for us far more than Wirtz would be capable of against low blocks.

You are correct that Foden isn't a consistent creator. MGW is going to shock a lot of people, however.

Wirtz doesn't play against the parked the bus either, but plenty still said he was worth the £125m risk.

City are forced to play a different game than every other team in world football, simply because of how opponents sets up.

I'd argue it is MGW's aggressiveness, coupled with his tidy feet, which makes him an obvious signing this summer.
he will attack the oppostion with direct running through the midfield (as kev used to) and therefore provide more space for wide players. A very dangerous player who caused us many problems in the FA semi

Where do you think the creativity is going to come from?

MGW and Reinjders together with 2 full backs are the logical choice. We have seen this season so many mistakes from these positions resulting in very sloppy goals. I would have preferred FBs from the prem but even then there isn't any guarentee they will easily adjust to Pep's requirements so we will just have to see. Back up to the new FBs can still be Nunes/ Ake and that's pretty good so overall the defence would be in a strong postion.

MGW and Reinjders provide goals from the midfield, are good technical players and young enough still to press, they are a very good fit for our requirements. We will still have Silva, Gundogan, Gonzalez, Rodri and kids to fill the midfield (Wirtz is a great player but alas not for us). We have had calls all season to give kids a chance so maybe we are with Echeverri and Bobb as AMs as part of the squad. Saying all of this if we could Wharton as well I'd be overjoyed.

Including replacing a GK then that's 5 incomings and outgoings potentailly of Ederson, Walker, Stones, Phillips, Kev, Kovacic, Grealish, McAtee, other kids means our DOFs are going to be very busy and we can only do so much

People aren't after logic mate, some want statement signings just for the sake of it, so they can dick-measure rival fans.
