This may well have been mentioned, so apologies if so.

But the police have confirmed that the 53 year old they’ve arrested was the driver of the car.

But surely the guy in the videos that are all over social media, where the door briefly opens, show a much younger man driving, no?
Not all 53 year olds look like OAPs you know. If the police have announced he was the driver, other than them blatantly lying, then he was 53 regardless of what he looked like. Unless you buy into conspiracy theories

This thread started with alot of empathy, now it's slowly being filled with alot shit. But I have to be careful here, if I don't say the dippers are murderous scums, il be called a dipper myself.

Where the fuck were the police? Guy gets his car attacked in a massive crowd and no coppers anywhere near?

For as long as I can remember, Liverpool have done parades like that - starting in the suburbs and heading into the city centre. Indeed, I remember a Liverpool fan online once and instead of indulging in the usual childish banter about parade numbers, he said he couldn’t understand why City don’t do something similar rather than confining it to a much smaller route in the city centre.
I think the tragic event of yesterday might answer the question
Confining it to a short route enables better control

if every single police officer in the country was at the parade-they'd still be hugely outnumbered and still be unable to be in the exact spot for any potential incident.

Yet there were a number trying to prevent angry people attacking the car before he drove off.

There's two dickheads in particular who need pulling in for their role in escalating this situation. That said, the other cars ahead of this one didn't seem to be getting any grief, so god knows what's gone on beforehand.
Maybe they were just calm drivers who acknowledged the situation, and he was a typical road rage type (an accident waiting to happen), maybe he supports a other team and hates Scousers, adding yet more fuel to his anger/fear

You may aswell close down every public event, unless you lay miles and miles of concrete bollards anyone can get in a car and plough into a crowd of people sadly.
Yeah, obviously this wasn’t a terrorist attack but if a nutcase is crazy enough to want to drive a car into a load of people. Ultimately there is very little you can do to prevent it.

Even if you have loads of bollards there will always be somewhere they end where a load of people have been gathered for a gig or sporting event.

Just seen this video

Was the road open to cars and people were just blocking the way? Looks like a few people didn't like the fact a car was there and started booting / punching the car. Car driver probably panicked and when his back window was put in possibly feared for his safety. Looked a feral mob and why the guy with the rucksack chased the car and further inflamed the situation is anyone's guess. There should be a few more arrested although I suspect it won't happen. Looks like an unfortunate situation that got out of hand.

Does it? I’ve seen all the available videos of the man driving the car and it is very difficult to make out an age, so why would you think the police aren’t being upfront about it?

The evidence is that an adult white male was driving the vehicle. Difficult to put an age on him. Police say he is 53yo. There is no conspiracy here unless you want to believe there is one.

Either pissed / drugged up driver , someone with mental health issues or blind panic after his car is attacked , back window smashed and people trying to drag him from his car .

I'm sure he will start aging quicker now.

it is possible that closures were being removed as the parade was winding down-but all of this will be subject to an extensive review due to the events that followed.
