While I think thats true, Cherki is for the 10 and MGW is for the 8.

We are buying Reijnders who is more of an 8, and Nico G needs to play more, who is also more of an 8, even when Rodri was absent, Pep played Kova as the 6 with Nico as an 8.

So im not entirely sure how necessary MGW even becomes.

Lets say we set up in a 4231, with the 6-8 as a 2, and the 10 slightly more forward, for me the options look like this:

10 - Cherki, Foden, Bobb
8 - Reijnders, Nico G, Lewis
6 - Rodri, Kovacic

I would argue as well that Kova, Foden or Bobb can play as an 8 in a crisis.

Or Nico G as a 6 inba crisis.

And thats still with Gundogan and Bernie as backups, with both likely staying. But even if both left, thats pretty good depth in midfield no?
10 - Cherki, Foden,
8 - Reijnders, MGW, Silva
6 - Rodri, Nico G

Think we're looking at that tbh with this move (if). Foden plays RW mostly, Kova leaves imo.

Lewis and Bobb will be the extra in the numbers anyway so see them rotated in for injuries or form etc but the mostly likely to not be on the bench. (not counting Reis and Echeverri).

Getting called weird for thinking that a portion of our support is acting childish because they can't get what they want. Imagine if he signed and was a success for us, wouldn't that make you weird by your logic?
Not really. If he was signed and did well it wouldn't alter the fact people had reservations about signing him

They're allowed to. You're not a better fan for wanting a player over any other fan

I dont think Nico G is seen as a backup 6, I think he is more of an 8 who can backup as a 6.

Also in your scenario, there is still Kova or Gundogan as a backup 8 to Reijnders. I know you said Kova to leave, but I dont see it, only 31 can play multiple spots, I think Pep loves him.

MGW still doesnt seem necessary.

Im only guessing, in reality i think we dont even go Cherki despite the noise. MGW will get done with TJ

Fair.

Yeah I only see 2 out of 3 realistic.

I prefer Cherki over MGW.

But if we were more aggressive in clearing out the older players like Kova, Gundo, and Bernie, id be all for all 3 coming in.

I just suspect at best one of those 3 leaves.

would love this. Would probably see much less of Bobb though

As much as getting Cherki for this fee is great business. It should be known that this lad is a very clear step below Florian Wirtz at this current moment in time. Not saying this to be pessimistic but I don't want us starting the dialogue of Wirtz vs Cherki as some nonce Liverpool supporters tried to start with the Haaland vs Darwin shite.

No doubt in my mind our board would rather sign Wirtz for 100m than this lad even for 30m, despite what they're saying in the media. Still, top creator which is exactly what we need at this moment. Great bit of business from City if we can get him in. The future looks promising!

I just love his imagination on the pitch. He's a maverick and tries things people don't expect - which is exactly what we need in 90% of our matches against teams with 11 behind the ball.

He doesn't rely on pace and can work in the tiny spaces. That's hugely desirable to us.

His finishing with both feet is also exceptional.

Question marks over his appetite for defensive duties but deserves the opportunity to improve in that area. Would have some freedom alongside Rodri and Reijnders and looks like a very balanced 3.

Our free list needs a lot of removals to accommodate all these signings.

Hasn't he been rumored to be attracting interest from plenty of mid table sides for numerous years now? Has there been a sudden upturn in his performances to attract our interest or are we shopping a tier below where we should be?
