No issue with pointing out her, or anyone’s, shortcomings. I binned Sky Sports years ago, so Reddy barely registered, but her dismissal is relevant news in this thread.

On the flip side, I don’t need three days of posts from what appear to be teen virgin saddos whining about her. They can take their emotional trauma elsewhere and preferably to someone who will give a shit.

I pop into this thread to get City news/views in the media. I’m not an emotional support dog.
A prominent media personality being dismissed probably warrants comment in the media thread on a football forum, for at least a week after their dismissal, and I’m not sure anyone was asking you to be an emotional support dog.

Reddy & Aluko are two sides of the same coin, pure box ticking with none of the boxes linked to actual talent to do the job. Mind you there's some shocking male commentators as well. Mark Lawrenson might be a very capable commentator but I have yet to understand a single word he mumbles so I'll never know.

That's me upsetting Bob again :)
I never minded Lawrenson personally, and was occasionally known to laugh at his dad jokes, however it did used to get on my tits when he was making those predictions for the BBC that whenever two top teams were paired against each other he’d always predict a fucking draw!

That's not fair. @gordondaviesmoustache is neither a saddo nor a teenager.

A TV journo derided as being utterly useless also managed to be a prominent media personality that requires a week of discussion? Quite the feat.

Discuss her professional attributes or lack of them by all means, but peoples emotional trauma over a woman in the media I don’t need. I’m here for opinion on City in the media. For everything else, they can talk to a therapist.

Or get an emotional support animal. Maybe a beaver. Sounds like they need one.

From my point of view I’m always reluctant to criticise female presenters because there’s plainly a lot of misogyny in the room when they are the topic under discussion and I don’t want my comments to amplify those sentiments. I think the addition of female presenters to the theatre of football presenting has overall been a positive thing, and made the output more balanced and a bit less lad-ish, which I think is a good thing. Furthermore, given the number of women who follow male football, a number which is increasing at a prodigious rate, it’s also absolutely correct that this is better represented in broadcasting output.

However, Reddy was so utterly terrible at her job, so hopelessly inarticulate, lacking any charisma, poise, authority or presence when presenting that it would be remiss not to point this out, not least because her presence undermined the credibility of other females who would be far better suited to that role. It’s obvious her allegiance to Liverpool and previous experience in reporting on them was the overriding factor in her securing the role at Sky - this is obvious because she was so conspicuously poor at the job. There is no other rational explanation for her attaining that role.

I expect that is why this dismissal is still being raised some three days later, as much as the motivations in some posters which I hazard have compelled you to rush her defence.
In some sports women commentators are better than the men, particularly cricket when they actually talk about the game with knowledge and insight instead of where they ate last night or how many buses are passing the ground. Ebony Rainford-Brent is particularly good. So it’s simply the choice of pundits on the football channels that’s the issue, not their race or gender
