I reckon there will be lots of first team players not going to the cwc. It’s a glorified pre season tournament

club aren't treating it as a glorified tournament as they've said
Who led you to believe that? The media or the club? If the club then I bow to your superior knowledge but if it’s the media mmmm anything to get a dig at City. :-)

so you believe there is nobody at the club working with the players? erm ok

No I am not saying that I am just asking who 'led you to believe'.
Which ever way you look at it, there will be very few first team members there surely as they are on holiday aren't they? So at the England set up he will be training with the England players and building up his strength and fitness. Anyway... if the club were bothered they would recall him I would have thought.

:-)

Fighting the good fight, eh EB?

;-)

I admire your loyalty to him, but you've got to face facts. We can't rely on him to play 25+ PL games a season any more, which would equate to him missing nearly a third of the games, a high number. He's made of glass. Which is a damned shame as, when 100% fit, he's one of the most accomplished footballers at the club. But the club won't allow sentiment to dictate their actions (see KDB for recent evidence of that). My guess (and that's all that it can be, as I'm not an "ITK") is that if the club receive an acceptable offer for him, they'll let him go.

its a joke he is with the england set up rather than staying back at the club to be in shape for the CWC.
I would think he’s desperate to go to the World Cup next summer, so if England invite him to train with them then he’s unlikely to say no.

Not saying this in a necessarily pejorative sense, but if you’ve won everything you can in the game with your club side, then winning something with your national side probably becomes a bigger objective before the end of your career.

just think its crazy he's barely been available and he's back with england. same as last summer

I could be wrong, but I’d have thought a lot of big players will be rested and won’t want to get injured for this.

The club might have said that, but what else were they going to say. Anything with lots of money they’d say similar

Hell of a player, i'll be sad to see him leave, we won't be able to replace him with someone better but we will be able to replace him with someone fitter and more dependable fitness wise.

Sorry if this has been stated but what injury has Stones got that he is still not fit 4 months later

Not sure if the stats on there are only for PL games, or for all competitions (possibly the latter, at a guess?), but he apparently missed 33 games last season with various injuries.

Apparently, he made 20 appearances in all competitions last season. Out of, what, around 50 games, maybe?
