Yes lads!

Not sure if it's 'happy clapping' to be excited. We're signing very good players who will keep us competitive. I'm not saying I expect us to win 4 in a row again, or 100 points or the treble, but we will be up there and competing. That's all anyone has a right to hope for.

When we signed Toure he was considered a cast off DM from Guardiola's Barcelona. We never threatened to win the UCL with Toure in the team and he also only had one season where he scored more than 10 league goals. Marmoush just scored 7 in half a season.

When we signed Silva, he'd been playing in the UEFA Cup for the two seasons before.

When we signed KDB, he was famously considered a risk at the price we paid.

And Sane, smh. You're undermining your own point. Sane left and then we had the most successful period in club history ... without him. Likewise Silva.

At the time we signed all these people were saying things like 'oh he's not Kaka/Ronaldinho/Messi', and it's only now after they developed, peaked and won trophies that they're considered all time greats. Rodri struggled for a couple of years, memorably he was dropped for the UCL final in Porto, and later he won the Ballon D'or. All these guys we're signing have the potential to become greats too.

Getting excited when we actually sign good players is perfectly normal, unless I've missed something we haven't sold and signed anyone to get giddy about yet.

Honestly I think you’d be a fool to put any more on a transfer.

I remember Sid Lowe was on a podcast talking about how reporting on transfers is so shit, IIRC there was a player in Spain he was good friends with - I think he’d been a translator for him when he first arrived - so phoned him up when the guardian asked him if there was substance to the rumour he was moving on deadline day.

The player says “No chance, we just got the kids in a new school, I’m happy at the club, manager says he needs me every game, no way I’m leaving”

So Sid files an article that the transfer rumour is bollocks, next thing he gets a text from the player saying sorry, he got called in by the chairman and was offered to move or not play, and he was at the airport having just got off the phone his wife and told her they had to move country again.

Transfer goes through that night, Lowe gets loads of stick for false reporting.

I’m sure any ITK on here like TH will tell you that no matter how “100% nailed on” a transfer is, it’s never done until they’re holding the kit for the press release photos (and even that’s not been the end of it once or twice).
He didn't bet on a transfer though.

It has been quite a while, but I do remember Paul relaying good info. I've been giving him a hard time solely based off his ambiguous post the other night
Haha fair play, as he himself said he’s in Cornwall nowadays so doesn’t get as much as he used to, but when he does occasionally post it’s not going to be bullshit

To be fair it’s impossible to be bullshit as he hasn’t said anything but “signings are looking brilliant” That’s just an opinion and could mean a lot of different players.

If he has named players in the past why not just do so again.

I cant see the level that is "outrageous" really.. now that Wirtz isn't coming at least, maaybe Rodrygo rumors is up there. Reijnders, Ait-nouri, MGW, Livramento and Cherki, all good players but not really outrageous is it, maybe money wise collectively though..
Im confident it will build a good/great team though.

Kaka from the back rope..
Need Rodrygo level players for that.

Fucking embarrassing into the third day and still haven’t signed anyone wot the fuck

Rodrygo seems to have plateaued and really hasn't yet shown that he can be elite. He's scored some big goals and obviously scored some huge ones vs us, but for a guy who plays as much as he does, his stats in a team like Madrid are a bit underwhelming. He hasn't been huge for Brazil either. Not saying he couldn't be a success at City, but for the price he'd cost it doesn't seem like a shrewd signing.

Any time Madrid are open to letting a player leave, it's usually for a reason.
