There are a number of very gifted players who don't achieve much. Two examples are at West Ham. Paqueta and Kudos. They can do wonderful tricks, flicks and assists and goals but you need a good team and good mentality to become a top player. It's up to City to do the extra research that fans can't do.

Does a backup have to cost less? They’ll be ranking the players on their ability, not their cost. It’s just a sign that Cherki is available at an insane price more than anything.

If the Cherki deal falls through, it would be wild—especially considering the player is keen to join and his price tag is relatively low, around €40M. Meanwhile, Xavi Simons is valued even higher, twice the Cherki price. So are we genuinely willing to pay more for Xavi than just trigger the €40M for Cherki? If that’s the case… wow. I’m honestly speechless.
