How can you still be pissed about Wirtz? Ffs, we needed a squad rebuild. 3 quality players for the price of Wirtz is loads more important for us.

Because he’s a fantastic talent and our main rivals are getting him. Liverpool can get him because winning the league was a major plus for them financially. Last time we won the league we threw or chance away by buying too much promise for them financially future and not enough quality for the then present. That then led us to where we were in January with a tired and slow midfield.

At last we are now looking at buying long overdue replacement. I think it’s still a sad miss not getting Wirtz unless he turns out to be an almighty cock like Jude Bellingham.

didn't know too much about him until the fuss over him coming here.
not keen on the rejection banter it hands to the dippers even if its true that we walked on price.
the reason i'm not bothered is that i expect them to buy quality players and challenge us anyway.
at least this way it takes a chunk of their budget.
it also hands us some big spender banter (we can't compete then records for vvd, alison, wirtz)
he looks good but if we find our possession mojo, he'll barely touch the ball against us.
okay it does bother me a bit

It's disappointing he's going to the dippers but it's a real change in model from them paying so much on a single player. It could cause them more problems in the future as they're setting a new benchmark for fees and wages. He's not a player I thought they needed, but one that definitely improves them.

If he had decided on City I still feel the club would have walked away based on his salary demands. To go and get three players for his price is much more sensible. We might be in the position next summer where we need one high quality signing and can break the bank for them, but with the overhaul needed the club are doing the right thing.

We walked away from Sanchez, VVD,Maguire,Fred to name but a few and it worked out ok

Wirtz has been playing in a better team with better players and under better management. Cherki showed last night how good he can be with better quality players around him. For the transfer fee and wage difference Wirtz is going to have to have an exceptional season to justify it in comparison. Maybe he will, but we're a lot closer to Liverpool adding Reijnders, Cherki and Ait-Nouri that we would be just adding Wirtz.
 
We still have big bucks to spend if you can come up with someone truly world class and available. We are going to get way more in sales and sell ons, than we have spent so far, and that still leaves what we normally could afford.

Personally, I can't think of anyone realistically. We could blow 100 again on an English talent and still be ok, I just don't understand the squad make up until the outgoings have finished. (People are guessing who goes). Maybe when they have, we will go big in the second window.

Will be interesting to see him in the prem. I've not seen enough of him but he doesn't particularly put the shits in me (unlike if liverpool signed mappe for example). With big money comes pressure

Happy with what we seem to be doing in the market

It's a bit like eyeing a fit girl up in a nightclub then seeing her flirt with some flash dude you can't stand. He was always going to find a fit bird but did it have to be her?
Meanwhile you get over it by bedding 3 sexy looking ladies at the same time.

This may have been suggested already, but is this another example of Cheeky getting rivals to overpay for someone who they think City are after? After all, he did it enough time to the rags, so why not the dippers?
