It's Quiet the £250m return

I’m relaxed about the full back position.

In all the time Pep’s been here we’ve rarely had traditional full backs. Walker is obviously the stand out and offered nothing in the final third but with his pace was excellent defensively. Delph, Zinchenko, Nunes, O’Reilly, Ake, Gvardiol, Akanji have all been used at full back and done a solid enough job that’s seen us be very successful and win a lot.

I’m sounding like a broken record but I don’t believe Pep’s going to change his principles. We’re not going to suddenly see City start playing more direct football, using overlapping full backs to put loads of crosses into the box or any change to his principles. This season was shocking. Our tactics were a means to an end. It was Pep finding a way to get results, nothing more.

With the right personnel we’ll see the basic principles again.

For me, we need someone fast who can replace Walker and sit as a third CB when we're in possession to cover counter attacks. Other than that Walker didn't do a huge amount to contribute to our game in possession. Do we need to spend a fortune on someone to do that job?
I'd say Walker offered nothing in the final third is a bit strong. Admittedly it wasn't one of his strengths but his willingness to get involved and his overlapping runs were crucial at times. His crossing was a bit shit

He got worse over time, too. 6 assists from 32 league games in 2017/18 was pretty respectable for a player largely bought for his defensive attributes

£65m you could understand, but considering Newcastle paid about £40m for him with add-ons they'll be looking at £80m minimum I'd have thought. English, young, three year contract. If they sell it's for big money to replenish their squad. And that number for a full back, when we've had plenty of success using midfielders/CBs in the role in previous campaigns is a nonsense in my opinion.

We bought someone young and quick in Jan. He's good on the ball and strong, stick him at RB if needed.
Yep, if the number goes as high as £80m then sure its too much but at lot depends on LIvramento. If he asks for the move then I can see Newcastle being willing to negotiate. The other side to it is do they want any of the players we're willing to offload or loan out. Weren't they interested in Grealish?

Obviously not done till the contacts are signed but it really does seem as though Mr. Reindeers, Cherki, and Ait-Nouri are all nailed on for ~120m all in. That's great business in today's market.

If the 250m is accurate (and I trust Tolmie), there's still a sizable chunk for a few others. I do think the Livramento and MGW rumors are legitimate. There's too much smoke and we simply don't have any foreign spots left.

I'd imagine we'll see some outgoings before anyone outside the 3 obvious ones are brought in?
