Grealish left out of the CWC squad (pg34)

Yeah but sterling didn’t wear his socks low and have a “cool” haircut.

If grealish was perceived to be ordinary looking and not as some nonsensical “jack the lad” type he would not get half the love as he does on here.

Average player who produced below average numbers for us aside from a fairly decent 6 month spell (which has seemingly turned into he single handily won us games in the eyes of some)

I very much expect it will be difficult to shift him permanently. That says it all.
A good product sells itself on the market. A "near expiry date" Kdb is still attracting a lot of interest from top clubs, let's see if that's the case with "our Jack"

I am not a Jack hater or a Jack fanboy.
But I was surprised Pep wanted him especially at £100 million it wasn't a secret that Jack likes a pint or two and pardon the punbis a bit of a Jack the lad.
What as surprised me is how long it took Pep to freeze him out after experiencing his antics. CTID

So just why has Grealish been ostracised?

I've not read the whole thread, but Pep is massive fan of going again.
Celebrate, BUT then we go again.

Pep wanted to win the PL. He did it.
He then had a chance to see his team become the first PL side to get 100 points. We did it.
Then win all 3 domestic cups.
Next the treble.
Then the Four In a Row.

Ok it caught up with us and we finished 3rd.

Grealish was part of the treble winning side and I get the impression he thought he'd completed football.
Can't blame him.
But Pep wanted his side to create history again. They did. They won a fourth title.
Grealish played significantly less.
A lack of desire?
Just unlucky with injuries?

A subconscious drop in intensity, combined with maybe not doing the right things away from the pitch?
Now that's more likely.

I don't blame him. He's had a lot going on with a new baby, the burglary etc...
But then he can't be angry when he's not picked if he's not doing it on the pitch.

FWIW I think he should have played more. Particularly centrally and he should have started the Cup Final.
But I don't work with him every day.

So, he'll move on and be a part of our history. He'll be forever a treble player. I hope he finds the right setting for his skill set.
I for one will stand and applaud when he returns.

Perhaps Pep said to the players after the treble go out and enjoy yourselves but remember you are top athletes.
I seem to remember Jack being photographed a fair few times being helped out of night clubs in the early hours.
Just my gut feeling that Pep won't have liked that. OK leave early morning but not off your face !

about Jack transfer we had some special circumstances. Its been the summer we were pursuing Kane and negotiating with Villa over Grealish. We were afraid that we could end up without any target so we agreed what Villa had asked for, especially since Jack himself imposed kind of deadline to make it work (you can understand it hes been under immense pressure from Villas fans, environment etc.).

Maybe Jack been overpriced a bit, but I would never say hes been a failure. He gave us many very good performances. I would love him still with us, but I trust that the club just have all the info they need to decide its better for the team's future to part ways. Anyway Im gonna have great memories with Jack at City.

Strange purchase? I can't even remember him. Had to Google . Was going to games in those days but zero memories.
We’d finished 2nd and 4th respectively in the previous two seasons and we bought a 30 year old from Ipswich for £100k who didn’t even feature in their FA Cup Final squad before we signed him.

At the time City were trying to fill the King sized hole in our midfield after Colin's dreadful injury. Jimy Conway anyone?
Anyway, with Jack he became quite frustrating for me in the end and for the price tag (of course not his fault) I'd say he did OK but nothing more

A long time ago, the 60s, some bloke in the pub was whining about the cost of a player while playing don. His partner asked him how much he paid to get in Maine Road, he replied 5 bob. His partner told him to shut the fxck up and play his cards as it wasn't his money and he wanted to win the jack money. This is now my view on people going on about how much we pay for pkayers, shut the fxck up and count the winnings;-)

Jack leaves with my blessings for sure.
In the club I trust they rave a good record so far CTID

My main memory of Jack is really wanting him to do well every single time he played , his flash gear and innocent excitement at having the Asda across the road!

His celebrations when he did well were even more memorable but lasted longer , like George Best, Rodney Marsh, a lad enjoying the rewards of his talents to an excess that the holier than though modern game, fan, social media cant tolerate .

Id last under 5 mins, seconds under Peps regime , Jack and Pep were never a long term match. I hope he rediscovers his football mojo not least for his gift to lift younger, older less fortunate fans with total, natural ease.

The bickering in this thread is sad to read.

I know I’m a bit of a WUM so it might be uncharacteristic of me, but can’t we all just agree that for whatever reasons it probably is best for player and club that they part ways, but wish Jack all the best for his future and be thankful for his contributions?

Arguing the toss over this and that isn’t doing anyone any favours and just clouds his legacy. Yes it could’ve been better but he also contributed loads and was central to our greatest ever achievement. Both things can be true, it isn’t a zero sum game.
