PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I'm not talking about normal day too day operative, I'm talking about the stuff you don't see. You're assuming that there's no corruption and everything they do is above board. £24 million to extend a tramway 300 yards? Really?

Then there's the sneaky laws they bring in for no other reason than to make money, such as fining somebody £1000 for putting their bin out for the binmen (or whatever they're called these days) one day early, and other totally outrageous amounts for minor misdemeanours. Sorry, but that's corruption in my view.

Another one is issuing fake summons for council tax arrears, and I have actual proof of that one.
That there's corruption, I don't doubt. I could even tell a few tales, but proving it is another matter. There are very few successful prosecutions. Or prosecutions of any kind.

The trouble is, I see a lot of unsubstantiated bollocks on the internet, which, if it named names, would be libel. What I hardly ever see is anything that amounts to substantial evidence, let alone proof.

For example, a lot of people assume that if a development is approved that they dislike, brown envelopes must be involved. That's not necessarily the case at all, but this amounts to an allegation of a very serious fraud which, if true, would get people imprisoned. I don't say it never happens, but it doesn't happen everyday, and not for petty amounts. It wouldn't be worth it for those involved, and you'd have to bribe quite a few people each time.

Sounds about right. Edinburgh tram system cost £90m a mile a decade ago.

Your minor misdemeanour might be a major obstruction to someone else.

Did that go to the Ombudsman?

I had been thinking that no verdict had been delivered at all, and no one knew anything, however I am starting to wonder if a verdict might have been issued as long ago as March, but one party (most likely the PL) has appealed. If this were the case, it would explain the long time it's taking, Pep's comments, and the lack of any rumours other than suggestions City have won. If it had gone well for the PL, even in part, with City appealing, it would have leaked like a colander.

Council corruption can be as subtle as neglect—ignoring potholes, failing to maintain streets or housing, and allowing an area to deteriorate. Over time, the decline makes compulsory purchase seem more appealing, enabling acquisitions at a lower price.
Any recent examples?

(I know the thread is now a general place for talking shit about anything other than the topic but ... how can councils maintain houses they don't own?)

so stefan on talkshite said that the verdict could come this week, is this just to give us something to talk about between the transfer window shutting and the CWC starting, its a plant by @Ric to keep traffic to the site up ;)

Stop thinking too much and visit the City online shop and buy a new shirt or a newly branded WCC football with glow in the dark stitching.

Hedging his bets. We all thought the international break was the time, then the end of the season and now before the CWC. If not then it could come out the weeks before the new season.

As no news is available, might as well speculate on the date.

Anything is possible. Either way we have clearly won the case on any real substantive matters.

How do you know? If it's all as confidential as it's supposed to be, nothing should be made public at all until after any appeals, or have I got this wrong?

For what it's worth, I don't think any verdict has been delivered, I was just speculating if there was some other scenario.

he also said that it come anytime before the new season starts. and that it might not. he was just giving his opinion on the likely hood of when.

Have we really spent 115m this week or is that media creative accounting BS?

Are squad numbers 11 and 5 available?

Nice if 2 of the lads take them for the photo shoot.

What makes you think we have clearly won?

What makes you think we have clearly won?
1. The club has not committed any fraudulent activity.
2. All financial results are in the yearly report.
3. Stadium spend.
4. Players recruited.
5.CAS already cleared this nonsense.

I have never genuinely believed we committed mass scale fraud. Bent the football rules, sure but that’s about it.

The clamour to find us guilty is nothing but a commercial dispute aided and abetted by the media who have also a vested interest in the top clubs staying top.

The rest is innuendos and outright lies.
