Stopped reading at that point. What the earthly fuck does any of that mean or matter. Americans are hilarious
Are you saying you didn't appreciate my stereotyping for the aid of British viewers? Despite our identities (I thought identity was important?), and despite the differences between Texas and Massachusetts, we are both Americans who kinda like the Constitution.

If (the history of) America's regional /religious /class / ethnic / political cleavages and what has flowed from them are of no interest to you that's fine. It's had real consequences though.

You have to be well versed in Socialist speak and conduct to spot what the socialist in your country are doing.

Some people like to call others Nazis. Other people just show you how you are acting like one. Self is the latter.

Yes. When they talk and act like Nazis. It isn’t hard or complicated.

Has Self drawn any comparisons between Trump and Nazism? I’m sure a scholar like Self has a lot to say on the subject. I look forward to reading it.

The Constitution? That Trump isn't sure he wants to uphold?

Strange that no one so far has picked up on this...

The USA is basically back in the early 1970's in terms of law enforcement.

What transpired then - and will inevitably transpire within the next few months - is that protesters will be shot dead.

Why is this inevitable?

Because the National Guard and the Military are trained to combat foreign adversaires. Whereas unruly/aggressive US citizens engaged in protest - albeit in a confrontational manner - will inevitably encounter the National Guard or the Military - whose training is inadequate to police domestic protest.

My take on all of this - at some point within the next 6 months or so, the National Guard and/or the US military will open fire on a crowd of protesters and several protesters will die.

My expectation/hope - is that this is finally a huge wake-up call for the Trump voter who isn't absolutely brainwashed.

I also expect that Fox News and other Trump outlets will color the putative deaths as "they got what they deserved"... I hope and expect that his message doesn't resonate at all for most Americans.

I think if the situation becomes severe enough to require the national guard to open fire, it would be a huge victory for Trump.

would that depend on how much he uses it as an excuse to tear things up and how far he has the courage to go?

Could he manage to seize enough power before any payback? And where would the resistance come from?
It could play out that America under Trump becomes another Germany under Hitler - at least in terms of total erosion of Democracy. I don't think that his will transpire... but who knows?

When the Guard opened fire at Kent State, it was the beginning of the end for the then administration. They gradually lost all sympathy, but it took a few years to expose the immorality of Nixon’s regime.
Note: the public opinion polls in the immediate aftermath of the killings showed majority support for the gov. I expect Maga supporters would take a while to realize killing US citizens is not to be condoned.

Disagree. There's no situation in which killing US citizens is going to play out in favor of Trump.
I wish this were correct, but I fear most if not all of MAGA will cheer if he starts gunning down Californians. Especially if they are brown. They've been fed 24/7 propaganda that they're the enemy

Training for the World Cup? ICE will mean loads of fans DON'T attend games in the States and just go to the ones in Canada or Mexico

The US administration is made up of the very worst people in the world.

#N of too many to count.

Had to turn that off. First hand experience says that, that ****, is a ****.

Worked with the Americans many-a-time, and they’re very much bravado, but they do have all the gear. The difference is, we have (I say have, could be soon, we had), all the experience.
