Country with no desert (they're German) -- check
A non-photosynthetic plant -- check
A river word -- check

No idea what they sound like.
Rivers is right leaf is right, but photosynthetic rather than non (hence key part).

They do flow..

Leaf as a word is right, the type that photosynthesises..

In Sidartha, he keeps coming back to the river, where the sound leads to his epiphanies. In By the River I sat and.. self explanatory. In salmon fishing in the yemen, the sound of the rivers awakens the innate instinct.. and there are three of them on our club badge, for extra help.

A vital part to the process of photosynthesis, tbf I thought would have been more obvious.

I previously joked about Sweden having a really steong desert rock scene despite not having (conventional) deserts.
