I see they've agreed a fee for Wirtz. I'm confused, though (what do you mean, "what's new?"). I thought it was only us who spent money?
Loads of excitement broken out on rawk

You can be sure the thread on him will be along the lines of:

Florian Wirtz - best midfielder in the world

Just add him to the squad with a 80 million defender, 86 million striker, 65 million keeper, 60 million midfielder and countless other 30-50 million players.
116 million inc add ons.
Guess add ons = get teeth done, turn cultish, state boyhood Dipper fan and learn how to dive
I thought they were all funded by "The Coutinho Money"™?

It appears that signing what might be a top player for a huge fee isn’t enough for the cult and the media. It also has to be that Wirtz snubbed interest from City to sign for them, despite that clearly being nonsense. City really do live in their heads, despite them not caring about us.

That's why so many are just unfunny - this scouse humour is a myth really. Humour requires self awareness ...also in general the lack of awareness is mind boggling. In a taxi there recently - can i pay card, ohh prefer cash like, we scousers don't like paying taxes! Couldn't get a more Thatcherite response from someone who proceeds to say ''oh we stick together us scousers'' etc..sticking together with an'im alright jack, f uck you attitude'' proper mental..didnt get irony
Brendon Burns agrees

None of City’s fans business who other clubs sign.

But some of these lot never tire of pointing out how much we’ve spent in the pathetic guise of so called “fairness”.

So I am guessing the hypocrites today will be
worried sick how the likes of Brentford etc etc can compete with them.

Aye, when you watch comedians from Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Bristol, Wales, Yorkshire, etc, they will take the piss out of their home town all the time. I've never seen a Scouse comedian taking the piss out of Liverpool.
To be fair to the comedian, if you've ever visited Liverpool you'll find the area does a fine job of that all by itself.

You're right of course scousers take themselves far too seriously. They have absolutely no self-awareness whatsoever.

We walked away from this.
We calculated that we could get three apparently really good players in key positions (which we were obviously already working on), for slightly more than they're paying for this guy.
And by the way the figures given in the media do not include any information that I've seen on his required starting salary, which I had understood was one of the major sticking points for us. I originally saw the figure of £300,000 per week bandied about. But that doesn't honestly seem possible. It was high, though — too high for us.
Pep identified several positions that needed shoring up. Not just one. We made the right move.
If we can get a genuine quality right-back — I say if — and by the way we have the second summer window to do it, we will have covered all priorities. Otherwise, we'll manage. Matheus Nunes will never be a genuine right-back for me, but he was definitely learning the trade as the season went on, and wasn't making a bad job of it.
We won't stand or fall on one spot.
But because we always have a double level of planning (except last summer, which was an exceptional fuck-up), we've also been getting in players like Reis and Sevve, who have been scouted by more than just us as exceptional prospects for the future. I also strongly hope O'Reilly goes nowhere. Surely he's got a future at this club?
“Steady as she goes, captain.”

I can't say I have seen much of him. All I know is there were very few, if any City fans, speaking negatively about him when we were linked to him. It is a lot of money but if we spent that on him nobody would be arsed. City fans I mean, the media reaction would be different of course. Liverpool have won the league and improved their squad with two very good signings so far Thankfully our own recruitment looks good plus with Rodri back should make it a competitive and exciting season

Get ready for Wirtz Bingo.

* the only club I considered.
* The roar of the Kop
* Special European nights under the Lights.
* to play with the worlds best striker and goalkeeper.
* Biggest club in the world.
* Once Arne Slot rang me personally
* Best club in England.
* Fan since the fallopian tube.

When all the stories started up about Wirtz going around with his Dad from club to club, I said City, don't fall for it.

It was Wirtz and Dad plus the agent going around touting him in a auction and bidding War ? City had been told its £150 million and we are here to sign right now, BUT I was so glad we don't play those games, we had our price and maybe a bit of wiggle room with add-ons,

Mark my words Wirtz to Liverpool was around the £150million and the Media are lying just to cover it up
The Media will never write about HOW bad it is for football and Liverpool are are trying to buy the title

Surely you are not surprised. He'll never be welcomed back. Fucking rat

More media duties and talking for Real than he did as our vice captain last year.

Actually happy he's gone.

I hope we give him the Sterling treament x10 next season. I'm not even sure he will travel for the game might just stay in Spain.
Could you imagine being them?

That takes cult following to a whole new level.

I've never come across a group of fans so insecure about their club with so little self-awareness.

They believe they're part of the biggest and most powerful football club on the planet and yet they've got such an inferiority complex, the polarity is absurd.

If Liverpool FC is such a big deal why do their fans feel the need to constantly defend it. You would think a club like Liverpool could stand on its own merit.

I often wonder if their "shrine mentality" does more harm than good to the institution that is Liverpool FC.

The comparisons of getting 3 players for the price of wirtz doesn't really make any sense. To put the shoe on the other foot, when we bought Gvardiol, I'm sure there were other clubs who got or could have gor 3 useful players for roughly the same price, doesn't make that a better deal.

I wasn't sold on wirtz, not because i didnt rate him, i had simply not seen enough of him to get to that stage but most of this forum were creaming themselves at the prospect of getting him to replace kdb.

Let's hope he's a colossal flop but seems unlikely, he's had a queue of top clubs interested in him and a fee that large for a reason.

It was a myth that the dippers don't spend any money as we all know but at least they'll not be able to spout that garbage again without immediately being called out on their bullshit.

We looked at Van Dijk didn’t want to pay the price but Liverpool did. Stones, Ake, Dias and Akanji and even Laporte who isn’t there anymore all have more medals than him and cost less. As with Grealish, just because you make a big investment it doesn’t mean it works out how you planned it.
