About 12 months ago the figure was much lower than 80% across the country, with only the major cities close to 70%.
It's over 40 years since the shah was kicked out and support for a religious dictatorship is still strong in many rural areas.

The Arab world can do fuck all. Iraq, Syria smashed. Egypt shat it. Jordan useless. Even if they were all strong, they are in proxy war with the US military. They are neutered and when that happens, terrorism fills the empty feeling, is my fear.

Your friends could be right. My figures came from a couple of reports a year or two back when a young girl was killed for not being dressed as the backward clowns in charge wanted, and a few protests followed.
